Ouch. Any reason given, or just a layoff?

No, that really sucks. If someone one tells you "When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade", you should kick them in the groin.
I'd be so pissed if I got laid off/fired right now, I'd be completely f'd in the A.

Need to lose something? Ask Phil!!

Sucks, brother. Pack it in, go buy a pick up and take it down to LA...

1100 teachers all today.

Do they ever give a reason? Not unless they're legally obliged to do so. And they're not.

So finish up the school year, collect a check till the end of august, and then...

I drove over to Lane Tech where i had been offered a job (pre 9/11), where my buddy who I taught with in the ghetto has been working for 2 years (also music).

The department chair remembered what I taught, what I played, my name, where i ended up taking a job instead, where I used to teach, etc...

They don't have any openings at the moment, but that may change. Still, encouraging that he remembered me half a decade later.

I know, Liquid Soul, my teaching job, all in 12 days. Now to complete the trifecta i need to lose either my woman or my dog.

Or have my truck get stolen, or caught on fire or something.

Cueing up Jon The Fisherman.

That's awful Phil. I don't understand, don't teachers have any job security in Chicago?

only after you're tenured, which is four years.

I, of course, am at 3.

If your woman or your dog leave you at this point, change your name to Job. Go out and get drunk. Righteously drunk. Wake up, and figure out how much money you can stack between now and August, and start looking for jobs/gigs out in La-La Land. Something is forcing your hand here. Don't fight it, man.

Try to kepp your head up. We're all cheerin for you.

Pretty much whatever you want. Teachers used to get tenure in two, too.

Sure seems that way doesn't it?

I'm at her starbucks right now, I'm having black coffee, and a toffee almond bar. I haven't had one of those in ages.

The chocolate is helping. I can't get drunk, I'm rehearsing for a bass subbing gig tonight with a really good band, so i have to go home soon and do some homework.

Show up like Chuck Berry. Case in hand, count off and let 'em follow your lead

(I know bass doesn't work like that, but you need some SWAGGER, my boy...bands are probably like girls..they can tell when you are too timid and when you are compensating by being overconfident..go in there and knock em dead)

The obner just gave me a sample of their Tarragon Chicken Salad sandwich.

It's really fucking good.

And I'll slay at the rehearsal.

Hell yeah.

And I just got an e-mail from Peter Mulvey's management. The Madison show tomorrow is cancelled, and will be rescheduled... date TBA. Want to do the guitar browsing/show going at that later date with Busty and Pete?

Goddam right you will.

When do you land tomorrow? Busty and I are trying to map out our respective days.
