Anyone see this? It was fantastic. I think CSPAN is replaying it a few times today---definitely worth checking out.

This was an amazing political event... it wasn't even funny, it was just atonishing and painful. Painful for our country's suffering in these past few years.

That the president's Green Zone Bubble was pierced this totally by this anger is indicative that a great Tide has changed... so maybe it is Titantic more than Hindenburg. I actually felt sorry for Bush. And he and Laura both looked as angry as I have seen them.

Lenny Bruce lives in the acid tongue, swollen cojones, and astute satire of Stephen Colbert.

Beyond C-Span... you can see this now all over the web, but interestingly, nothing about it in NY Times, LA Times, and WaPo.

i only heard the audio, but i can imagine the bushes were not too pleased with a lot of what was said. it was more like a roast than a typical correspondent's dinner.

I think I read something about it in the Times. A quote from Colbert or something in the Week in Review. I'll take a look. No major coverage though.

]Okay, so it's Reuters but it's still on the nyt website.

The other quote was in the "Laugh Lines" of the week in review and was from the Colbert Show, not this event.[/url]

Quote:
``Fox News gives you both sides of the story -- the president's side and the vice president's side,'' he said to muted laughs.

"Some people say the glass is half empty, Mr. President, but the ratings are 32% . . . it's really 2/3 empty."

I've always respected the Daily Show crew, but I have even more respect for Colbert now. He had an opportunity to stand five feet from the president and say what he wanted to, and he did. "Just lean in and talk into your table-cards, someone from the NSA will be with you shortly." :rawk:

Truly awesome.

My only question is:

What the hell was Jeff "Skunk" Baxter doing at this dinner?

SKUNK!?!?!

Dude's a celeb Republican who ran in CA House race a few years ago... Ergo, he'll bring star-quality to the event in question (WH Correspondents's Dinner).

(OR, IF YOU'RE A SOUTHERN REDNECK, SUPPER. WHITE HOUSE CORRESPONDENTS'S SUPPER.)

that was awesome. its all over bittorrent for anybody who missed it. if anything it showed that the chimperor has no sense of humor about himself. the look on bush's face was priceless--he just couldn't believe that someone would dare to actually mock him. i doubt colbert will be getting invited to any establishment functions in the near future.

That's how I felt about this thread.

Colbert was saying that he doesnt let his kids watch the show because children cant understand irony and when he says "Goodnight sweetie, I love you" he doesnt want his kids to be like "OoooooK daddy"*winking*

More than the event itself, I'm fascinated by the complete lack of coverage of his set by the big TV news channels. I'm assuming it's because he ripped the press as much as he did the Prez.

"Liberal Media" my ass...

Late to the party, as always.

From YouTube:

Colbert Part 1

Colbert Part 2

Colbert Part 3

And I must say, after watching this, I would be honored to be teabagged by Mr. Colbert.

Well, not really. But dosen't it sound creepy?
