For me: Gotan Project. Not as good as their previous.

Talk about the epitome of a generic rap album.

A lot of them so far. My top five disappointing follow-ups:

1. Futureheads
2. Flaming Lips
3. Streets
4. Snow Patrol
5. Morrissey

Hands down, without a doubt:

Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime 2

sallypally, I agree with your Rogue Wave assessment, and djdan, I agree with your Futureheads assessment. I was really excited for Futureheads.

I think I'll reserve this space for Ian Hunter's new one due later this year. I'm hoping for the best, but I've got a baaaaad feeling about it.

From what I have heard of the new Flaming Lips, it doesn't seem to be as good.
I haven't heard alot of new stuff yet this year, but I would also add the new Tilly and The Wall and the Two Gallants album if it was early 2006.

Is this their first album since they had the line-up change? I believe that two guys from No things played with them beforehand, but am not sure when they quit to form No things.

The No Things dudes left after the first album, well not right after but it was probably when Angus and Andrew decided they wanted to go in a different direction with the 2nd album. I hated the 2nd album at first too but it kinda grew on me, which I don't see happening with this one at all.

What bothered you about Rogue Wave's new one? My only complaint is a lack of a "Nourishment Nation" type track, and what I mean by that is a standout song. Everything else to me is pretty right on. I'd give it like a 7 or 8.

Yeah Yeah nos.

Biggest dissapointment of the year.
Most disappointing follow-up of the year.
Biggest foreshadowing of a Weezer-esque "this new stuff is so bad it's actually tainting the old stuff" syndrome.

Broken Social Scene is from 2005. And it was the album of the fricken' year.
