90% of the time, dulli's covers are better than the original.

I couldn't disagree more. Most of the Dulli covers i've heard have been quite annoying. Especially the Bjork cover/covers i've heard.

i don't mind him covering old songs (uptown avondale is a great ep) but this just sounds tired. i liked it more when like faith no more would just burst into a 20 second medley of pump up the jam or the right stuff in the middle of one of their songs.

This would've been better if he would've done a few bars and sang the first few lines, then segued into something else.

sometimes this works sometimes it doesn't

i'm not sick of bands trying new things (or even unoriginal things) because sometimes it's fabulous. i don't get this attitude where you think that the band' creativity should be stifled just because you don't like that they do popular covers. covers are a way for them to inhabit somebody else's musical consciousness/space and perhaps grow or change as artists...maybe by playing "crazy" this band will gain insight into writing a more popular song and break on the radio one day.

i feel you on the "novelty" aspect though (like the flaming lips covers that annoy me), it's just that this indie-rock hater nonsense is so out of control sometimes.

Dulli has been doing it the whole new tour so far...I never really liked the original version, so I'm a bit indifferent to the cover as well...Of course though, considering my hetero crush on Dulli, I'm gonna give everything he does a 'thumbs up!'

Oh, this isn't the Willie Nelson-penned song made famous by Patsy Cline?

I've always been a sucker for a cover or two at a show.

I actually quite like his take on it, particularly with the slight change in melody that makes it more of a "Dulli" song. There has long been a place in pop music for interpretive performers who have their own distinct voice and style - I'm glad to see Dulli keeping that going, even if he doesn't always hit (e.g. that TLC cover, the Twilight Singers covers record).

That's what I thought it was too. i can't listen to it at work so I'm still at a loss to what song he's covering.

There seems to be a universal love for Dulli here, cover songs aside.

Does anybody consider him over-rated? Are you just holding back?

Just interested.

<----- raises hand

A voice incapable of carrying a melody. A plodding, swingless sense of rhythm. And enough self-importance to make Ryan Adams seem humble.
