Yay!!!

From NME:
Quote:
Portishead reveal details about third album
First new material in nine years may see light of day

Portishead have revealed details about their third studio album.

Founding member Geoff Barrow has revealed the band have completed their songs for their third album.

It will be the first new material since their second self-titled album from 1997. The bands last release was 'Roseland NYC Live' in 1998.

Posting on the band's Myspace page Barrow wrote: "We've had our meeting with the label it was really positive....which makes the whole thing so much easier to deal with nice people...The tracks are in a right mess but sounding like a album for the first time in years they (are) a bit weird though. Its great its nice to think us old gits have a few tunes in us without sounding like coffee table Zero 7 - Moby - chill out shit!"

Since their last album, singer Beth Gibbons released a solo album, 'Out Of Season', in 2002 with collaborator Rustin' Man.

what do you like better - "dummy" or "self-titled"?

Man, Dummy was so long ago I don't even have a CD copy.

I need to listen to the self-titled again because I haven't in the longest time.

No, because people actually care about this album coming out.

No, because only Dov cares about this slapdash monstrosity of an album coming out when really it's probably worth more shelved for the myth factor.

But new Portishead.... mmmmmm...

Portishead is one of my fave bands....Check my history.

Im talking bout reality. If you need, I will get Soundscan numbers to back me up....

Guns n Roses recent greatest hits record is at about 2 million units sold, and there last full lengths (Use Your Illusions 1 &2) sold about 6 million a piece.

Portishead's last "maybe" went platnum.

Guns n Roses are now overseas playing in festivals and their own shows to 30k a night in some instances...

Portishead never went past 3500 seaters on their own...

Both bands last albums came out around a decade ago....

Do you really think that the world is more anxious for a Portishead record then a new Guns n Roses record?

No, you made a personal preference, which is all fine and dandy....But its not reality.

No i didn't.

The masses like GnR because they had it shoved down their throats. Marketing dollars to the unwashed masses.

cause if Phil doesn't like it, then it can't be good! Am I making a correct assumption?

Saying stuff like this just makes you look like a fool, you realize that, don't you?

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion...

My beef was that I took it as Phil speaking for the entire population that more people care about a new Portishead release the a GnR one....And while he can think that, it simply isnt the case...

Regardless, I will be at Virgin records at midnight buying each release when they eventually came out.

Saying stuff like you can like em but i don't doesn't change the fact that it's idiotic music. I don't like the Stones either, but at least that's a fixation i can understand.

People buy what they're exposed to. It doesn't just go for art and music it goes for technology, food, etc...

McDonald's isn't the best burger, Starbucks isn't the best cup of coffee, Beta was supposed to be better than VHS, we could go on.

If you think I look like a fool though, well that hurts my feelings and I'll go buy The Spaghetti Accident and Use Your Illusion I and II RIGHT NOW.

I know better than that, but I know why it is the way it is.
