As long as I can continue to wipe my ass with it, I have no problem with that.

The best argument against banning the flag has to do with the VFW's recommendation to burn a flag no longer fit for flying. It's hard to ban a contextual issue, and that's what they want to do. They want to say it is ok to burn a tattered flag that is no longer fit to fly, but illegal to burn a flag in protest. If your going to ban flag burning, you basically have to stop burning a flag in this ceremonial way too.

It's flag desecration, you knuckleheads.

Burning an old flag is ceremonial and a form of proper disposal.

I doubt this will make it through the amendment process, its more of a rally cry for the Republicans than anyone actually giving a shit about the issue...which shouldnt be an issue(read the first amendment)

:nono:

We'll have to agree to disagree on that one CP. I take the flag pretty fucking seriously and always fly it in front of my home.

That being said, an ammendment to ban flag burning is just as idiotic and pointless now as it was in the early '90's when this non-issue was last brought up.

I'm in favour of burning flags but only crappy ones like the Stars and Stripes and the Union Jack.

I mean, even the least homosexual of us know not to leave the house wearing red, white and blue on our person so why put it on a national flag?

It's no wonder the USA and the UK are hated around the world when they are visually represented by such garish and horrible designs.

Until offending nations go two tone (like those every so sensible Scandanavian countries) they can have no complaint about flag burning - it's surely more an art/design statement than a political one.

Buuhhhhhhhhhhhn it!!

Like oldbullee said, Congress should focus on more important things. People who burn the flag as a "statement" are just trying to get a rise out of the right. You know, kinda like Bush does to the left every time he speaks.
