I've noticed this before but only felt the need for affirmation from others today.

Odd:
The Golden Age
Guess I'm Doing Fine
Lost Cause
It's All In Your Mind
Already Dead
Little One

Even:
Paper Tiger
Lonesome Tears
End of The Day
Round The Bend
Sunday Sun
Side of The Road

I'd even go so far as to say that I don't particularly care for the even numbers at all, whereas I love the odd ones.

That's just part of the larger "I love Beck but I don't really love any of his albums in their entirety." web. But a big part indeed.

I'm in agreement on this issue.

i thought this was going to be about his tendency to make a "real" album and then a "throwaway" album.

I'm going to have to pull this out and relisten to it. I remember that this album was uneven for me but exactly half the album and all the even ones?

Hmm.

I'd agree but I really like "Paper Tigers."

I agree. Seems to have a handfull of good nuggets for each album, and then just seems to fill the rest of the time up. At least with that album.

Maybe kinda. But I think "Paper Tiger," "Lonesome Tears" and "Round the Bend" are all better than "Lost Cause."

Also, "The Golden Age" and "Guess I'm Doing Fine" are practically the same song. (Same with "Paper Tiger" and "Lonesome Tears.")

Anyway, when you're sequencing an album, you're better off alternating the stronger songs with the lesser ones.
