I'm surprised "The Awakening" in Hains Point, DC didn't make it. A few of these are NSFW, but they're statues, so that's your call.

Before we get to the samples though, I'm throwing out the Alex Haley Memorial at City Dock in Annapolis, where Kunte Kinte was tossed off a boat and sold. It's a statue of Alex Haley reading to a few kids sprawled out on the ground. [ Haley Pics by Elvis Fu ]
