OK, I just posted the second "Six-Pack" edition of the Hip-D PodBlast to Hip Displeasure, so I thought I'd go ahead and share it here, as well. It features 18:49 worth of The Oranges Band (25.9 MB, if you want to download). If you've never checked out these guys before, now's your chance!

Saw them open for the Wrens back in April, and I wasn't too impressed.

Eric's thumbs-down aside, both me and TCB highly recommend TOB. I think a lot of you who haven't heard them would probably like them. If you don't, I'll give you a full refund for the cost of the stream/download.

if "ok apartment" isn't included here, there's a problem.

i've seen this band a few times and they're quite fun. they seem to even be nice guys. i heard dreadful things about the last album. what's the consensus on it?

edit: whew, ok.

OK, that's a little petty of me. "Wasn't too impressed" is probably a bit strong. More like, "this is OK, but unlike the rest of the CMJ BB, my pants somehow manage to remain dry every time I listen to The Meadowlands."

WHERE'S RADCLIFFE'S LASAGNA?!?!?!?

"OK Apartment" is the closing track on the "Six-Pack," and you are absolutely right that there was no way I could leave it off. While I liked All Around a lot better than the last album, I still thought the last album was good. Definitely NOT dreadful. Fu even likes it more than me, as does The Dreaded Marco.

Me and jagged saw them open for Ted Leo last summer, and they were pretty solid, though Ted pretty much blows away any and all opening acts with his manic maelstrom.

Not to go off topic, but as I've said many, many times, I don't really like Meadowlands, but when the Wrens played the Plan, I figured I'd go see them since they were the first "big" band to play there. And they were awesome. I've seen them several times since, and they're always awesome. Even though I don't like the record.

I'm just havin' a little fun with ya, EK. I'm pretty sure I'd probably "get" The Wrens a lot better if I saw them live. The Oranges Band tend to fall more in the category of better on record than live. While they are still pretty good live, they paled compared to Ted Leo and I can imagine The Wrens sounding much better live, as well.
