I'm going to turn this on at work to check out the doubleheader.
I'm surprised there has been no talk of the Deion Branch trade on here. I thought the Seahawk fans would be ecstatic that the Patriots traded him to them for a 1st round pick.

Yeah, that was really old news. The Cowboys thought they got lucky getting Vanderjagt after that one, but now he is hurt, and the Cowboys kicking game still sucks.

I watched the NE game yesterday and they put up the stat that said that no field goal had been attempted for NE since 1995 other than by Vinatieri.

I like Vinatieri, especially in my ESPN 2k5. haha.

Deion Branch is a stud, he was Super Bowl MVP two years ago. The Patriots didn't want to trade him, but he wasn't going to play for them anymore. I think with him and Stevens, they got a good chance to make the Super Bowl again. The Patriots Offense looked enemic without him. That's what I would say.

BTW, How did you take the Longhorn loss? I need to prepare myself for the worst this weekend.

About Branch, hes good obviously, but undersized 30-year olds are crawling out of the woodwork to play WR and they did not have to be held hostage give up a first and 30+ million to get this one. I just think that Hasselbeck is Brady-like in his ability to make lesser receivers better (Engram, etc) and to limit the better ones (Jackson, K Robinson) and so he could have plugged anyone in there. Why didnt they go after Lelie? Could have had him for a 3rd and no extension.

As for the Longhorns, Mack got outcoached again. They averaged like 8 yards a carry, ran that counter left play with nothing but success, and yet only rushed the ball 25 or so times, limiting Mccoy to quick slants, dump offs and the occasional deep ball. Also, Ive never seen a team play as flawlessly as OState did that game. They had one dropped pass, one missed FG and that was it for mistakes. Troy Smith was perfect, Lauranitis was AJ Hawk Jr. and they STILL only scored 24 points. If they can play like that all season, they finish number 1. If not, I dont see how they beat USC or ND or WVU in a bowl game (or any reasonably liberal offense)

They didnt want to pay him, thats exactly what it comes down to. The Patriots are a very fiscally cheap team, even though they felt internally that Branch was their most talented skill player.

I thought Texas was in that game until the fumble in the redzone, then they just died. I hope you guys bounce back, but I hope Nebraska can beat you at home, though I'm realistically expecting to finish 10-2 with losses to Texas and USC.

Yeah, that happened 5 minutes into the game with the score 0-0

Maybe you mean the interception early 3rd quarter

No, I think had Texas scored, they would have never looked back. As soon as they fumbled that possession away, they were a different team the rest of the way. I realized they tied the game in the 2nd quarter, but you could just tell they tightened up in a bad way after that and that's how Mack Brown gets outcoached.

Im just saying. If the game was over with the red zone fumble, then any chance they had (even as a 2-point fav) was over with their first mistake, still in the first quarter. Thats a tenuous situation, at best

I just know that several commentators have said similar things, and have discussed how Texas overcame an early fumble last year against USC to win the title, but how an early fumble essentially cost them the 1971 Cotton Bowl against Notre Dame and a chance to share the title.

In relation to the actually game...at least the broadcast of it...these announcers are irritating as hell.

Their jokes are worse than mine.

Because I don't have cable right now, I'm stuck watching some awful show on FOX while I work.

Andy,
You are missing a damn fine ballgame too, it is 16-16 late in the fourth.
Minnesota is driving for the go-ahead td.

Are they having double headers the whole season, or is this some catchy thing to get more people to notice that it has moved to ESPN?

I may have to turn on the radio, then. I thought I was in favor of the switch to ESPN but I never considered that I would opt out of cable for the summer.

Go 'skins!
