i have my 20th in november. shocking huh? i'm kinda debating whether i should even go since i never really hung out with anyone in my grade but it'd be fun just to see all those old bastards. i'm pretty sure they all look older than me. plus, it's $65 which could easily be spent on cd/dvd's.

I went to my 10th, two years ago, and it pretty much sucked. I have kept in better contact with a few people since then, who didn't even attend the reunion, but other than that it was a waste of vacation days.

You know you wanna go so you can laugh at all the people who were popular in high school, but then went on to marry boring girls/guys and get boring jobs (that they think and talk themselves into believeing are successful moneymaking careers, even if they suck)... Because now they are fat and ugly and bald. And since you have lived a life of minimal stress (at least in comparison to them), you are still looking and feeling vibrant and young... yes you should go. You'll make them all jealous.

That's a mature attitude to justify a position in food services.

My 10th is at the end of the month...at JOE'S ON WEED STREET. I'll try my best to go but not pay because it's at JOE'S ON WEED STREET.

My 20th was last year and I don't regret not going. Mostly because they had it on a boat -- a dinner cruise in the bay. I recently saw the boat they went on and realized how small it was -- I can't imagine being stuck on that thing with no escape route (except diving). Mmmmaybe if it were at a hotel where you could kind of poke your head in and then leave if it was a weird scene. Having said that, now that I'm dating someone much younger than me (and because I still look pretty young), it would have been fun to see how everyone got old and further homogenized.

Isn't myspace making reunions unnecessary anyway? But Loogs speaks the truth.

I skipped my 10th. I got dressed, walked out the door and on my way to the train said, "I don't really care about this." and like, went back inside and had sex or something cool like that. I did make up a great story, though, to use at the reunion. That was my only regret... not telling my former classmates that I'm married to a dude in Mogwai.

I recently talked via myspace with a guy that I went to school with from pre-school until high school graduation and that was kind of neat. Saw pictures of his kids, wished him luck in the future and that was that. If these school friendships were meant to be, I would've never lost touch with them in the first place.

I actually enjoyed high school, so I wouldn't mind seeing some people again but mine is coming up next year.

Shiv you have to go, and document the whole thing. I think you should make a podcast out of it. Shit would be hilarious.

Dude. I'm (mostly) joking. Besides, if you've not been close to those people in years, what other reason is there to go other than to see exactly where they've ended up? Sort of like reading the obituaries... a type of morbid curiousity. Considering most of the kids from my high school class (many of which didn't actually graduate) still live in that forsaken town I can't see any reason why there would even be a reunion. They all see each other every day.

Obner is my highschool reunion.

The tenth was 2 years ago for me. They wanted $75 a head to go sit around at a hotel conference room in a so-so part of ATL, PLUS FOOD/DRINKS. What was the $75 for?!?! The wife was a year behind at the same school - we had ample reason to go in theory but... no. Not from WI, plane tickets and such. Nope.

Me too, and it was still wack. The girls looked their age, even the ones that had kids, but the guys looked tore up.

No one recognized me, so I guess I looked pretty tore up too. And I was dry at the time. Big mistake.

I don't know, i just felt like I hadn't accomplished anything and that most of them were pretty damn productive. Oh well.

I don't think i'll make the same mistake for the 20th.

Not only was I not invited to my 10th, I wasn't even on the list of people that they didn't know how to contact.

In the big picture, the people I was friends with or cared about, I am still in either contact with or have kept tabs on via other firends, and or myspace.

You should grab the people you like and move to Weed Street Bar. That place is ridiculous.

I didn't really like high school that much and nobody much cared for me in my graduating class. In fact, many people actively tried to dissuade my future wife from dating me. That being said, if they ever had a reunion I'd probably go out of morbid curiousity to see what happened to everyone. I don't really have any hard feelings though, it's been so long I don't really give a shit.

Quite literally at times, it's true...

I went to my 10th with a girlfriend of mine....we left the husbands at home (because really and truly, I can't imagine a more uncomfortable affair for a spouse to go a highschool reunion and not really know anyone and have to listen to random folks talk about school hijinks). It was alright, I guess. I had more fun having drinks with my friend BEFORE the reunion than I did at the reunion. Thank God they made people wear nametags, because I'm horrible with remembering names and some of the people, I'd see them, it'd register that I knew them, but goddamn it if I couldn't remember their name. So there was a lot of me smiling like a retard, furtively glancing at name tag to get name registered, and then extension of hand to say hello.

A girlfriend of mine from Santa Cruz and I have talked about going to the 20th together, but I dunno... it's a couple years away.

As many others have said, I pretty much keep in touch with most of the people I was close with in hs. There are a couple I wonder about, but they didn't show up to the 10th, and I can't bank on them showing up to the 20th.

One thing I will say... even at the 10th... the same annoying cliques were still going on to a certain degree. The majority of folks (I'd say 90%) still lived in Georgia within a 40 mile radius of our school. And yes, some of the jocks and cheerleaders had already swollen up (including myself, but I've since lost all the weight). So if anything, it's a fun sociology experiment to witness.
