If you mean gray day as in "the sun isn't coming out" literally then I really like listening to the Clientele or Kingsbury Manx.

If you mean gray day as in your emotional state, then I would probably put on Cocteau Twins or Elliott Smith as they are the closest things I could call my "musical friends" and they comfort me.

Clientele are more a walking in the rain to the train station at night through deserted streets of tenements band than a mere 'grey day' group, but hey, that's just my opinion.
