Anyone heard of them, or have the cd?

I was reading the Rasputin magazine with their top 50 cd's of the year, and this one was #3 and I had never heard of them, so I felt compelled to check them out.

http://www.theholdsteady.com/

I got one track off their website and it is really good.

I'll rip it and get it up for you sometime during the day tomorrow if you're on then, Timmy. FT prob already has it up, though, if you can catch him on.

Listening to that mp3 from their site right now and it's pretty cool.
Reminds me a little bit of The Godfathers.
Good tune.

Also, maybe throw Iggy Pop in there, at least based on the one song I heard. You can dl it at their web site, like I did if you have the capability at work.

Thanks, Todd. Sorry to say, I'm not familiar with The Godfathers and it takes too long for me to dl songs via my modem hookup. But, I may get a chance in a week or two (shopping for new computer these days).

Ok, I think I've figured out their sound -- on the punk side, gritty and, perhaps, just a bit raw? Sounds like something I might like.

I've been on since about 8 AM, CST and I'm still showing no contacts online. When someone figures this out, please let me know.

Another plus for The Hold Steady is the lyrical debauchery that they carry through the album. Sordid tales of drugs and rock 'n roll.

this is totally not my bag.

all that effort I went thru to get this, I'm glad I didn't shell out the green

Edit: It's the vocals that are killing it for me.

Timmy... we'll always have Paris.

Doesn't it feel great to know you didn't have to pay for it though? I love clever cactus! I never want that sick feeling I had when I shelled out $18 for BDK's Presidentz Day again.
