National Park, from Glasgow, are probably legendary by now; an elusive omnipresence, they only seem to release a single once every two years and it always sounds completely full of promise and you think, yes, they're going to release an album. Their music is a hypnotic and repetitive Velvetsy clang, with leader, John Hogarty's vocal riding high over a group sound which this time round features Simon Shaw (Lucky Luke), Gerard Love (Teenage Fanclub) and Katrina Mitchell (The Pastels).

Loose, ten-minutes-long, tape hiss, folky, warm, a bit like the Velvets, lonesome, a stripped-down (musically!) Galaxie 500/ Yo La Tengo, slightly blurred, like it's raining, snowing, really sunny, somewhere between the visceral and the whistleable.
