We've owned homes in the past, but this is the first one we've had built. All that's left before it's finished is sod and the appliances. Closing has been set for 11/17 (two weeks from today). Exhiliration and/or terror is imminent. I'll try and take some pics this weekend. I don't think Prison Break is filming in the neighborhood anymore, so don't expect any shots of Bill Fichtner in the background.

Good on ya Bob. I hope you never have to "show him the view from McGee Town Hill."

Awesome, building my own home is an architects dream. I want everything just perfect, so that after it's finished being built, I can second guess everything I decided years earlier, or complain about the crappy design/ layout.

Yeah, but I ain't out there Jimmy Carterin' it with a hammer and nails. I know whenever you build your house, you'll actually BUILD it...just like that new wing at the Guggenheim.

You're putting surround sound in my bedroom, right?

(I forgot to tell you that I'm moving in...)

I think that thread was when your internet was down at work.

What's that in your avatar?

Yeah, I haven't figured out a way to pull off such a miracle just yet. But an Obner Group Home really is a fantastic idea.

It'll also ruin your marriage, although with a few exceptions I'm still pretty happy about most of the major design things with my house (3 years in)

Congrats Bob. You tell the wife about the dungeon under the garage that you back the mongering van right up to the entrance of for "deposits" yet?

I'll tell her about red moving in before I tell her about that. She can never know about The Gimp.

See if you get a security fence installed to keep out the intoxicated teenagers.

Oh, and congrats.

Great news, Bobbo. Congrats to you and the family.
Though I think a "Meth Moat" would be more effective than the simple security fence of south pacific's recommendation.

Now make quick with some photos.

hopefully the new place will have room to keep all of the cars in the garage...because, as long as your car isn't getting totaled, having a meth-addled teenager occasionally plow into your mailbox keeps things interesting...it's nothing but crap in your mailbox anyway

Congrats Bob!

I'm assuming that you factored in "Daddy's Room" in the plans.

A place where you can listen to your Thin Lizzy rarities bootlegs without judgement from the outside world.
