Just wondering. I was watching "A Good Band Is Easy To Kill" this afternoon, and it completely rekindled a bunch of love for the band. Are any of them in new bands? Doing solo stuff? I'd have to think at least Miles is out and about.

i thought miles was doing a solo record, but i haven't heard anything about it since shortly after when beulah went on their indefinite hiatus.

you liked a good band is easy to kill? beulah's one of my maybe ten favorite bands. it kinda struck me at the philadelphia show on that tour how much they meant to me, but i was totally underwhelmed by the dvd and thought it cast the band, especially miles, in a negative light. it was one of those moments where i thought, "ok, i listen to the band for the music and not because of the people behind it."

Yeah, I dug the DVD, because anytime I can see a band behind the scenes as people, its interesting to me. True, it did paint them at times in a negative light, I think that touring as a whole is fairly stressful to people. Also, while Miles has a big head, his band was an amazing artifact of the 90s, and criminally overlooked. Thus, I allow him to have a bit of a leadout on that aspect. Frustrated artists stick together I suppose :) I always wondered why they weren't picked up. When Weezer was having their resurgance I thought that some label would pick them up, just for the sheer pop sensibilities.

You were at the Philly show? That looked to be a disaster. Though in the DVD they made it out to be not a big thing. I was supposed to be at the DC show, but I was sick.

yeah, i'm glad to know what happened because i got there when i thought would be late and ended up waiting outside for about an hour before they even opened doors. very good show, though, except that the curfew signal was someone turning on the fire alarms during the last song.

I googled them and found their official site. Oddly enough, there are updates dating to 4/06. There's an interview with Miles from Prefix mag which I read to be from Relix, but I digress...

*edit* sounds like he's been through some crap.

I've always wanted to see that DVD but never got around to picking it up; interesting perspective on the pros and cons of seeing it, gentlemen.

Awesome fucking band BTW that I had never even heard of before I posted on CMJ.

Sweet. I've been on this music doc kick lately.

Watched one on the Ramones the other night. End of the Century I believe. Watched The Filth and Fury two nights ago. Watched said Beulah one yesterday. Started last night Charles Mingus: Triumph of the Underdog, and then I've got Rockers from netflix which has an assortment of reggae superstars such as Tosh and Burning Spear from '77 so its going to be entertaining at the least.

I need to get on netflix just to get some music docs.

my lady would probably enjoy the movies too since she can't get a Blockbuster card (banned for life) and I've never had one (no interest)

Why'd she get banned?

i remember back when i had a blockbuster card and me and a friend rented one of the madden games for the playstation and they never asked for it back so we tried again and got tomb raider and they never asked for that back either. we got a 3rd game and they finally caught on but i just said i returned it in the drop slot and it's their fault that they didn't check it in.

If so, that would be awesome, because he's fantastic. Truly one of our finest lyricists. But the impression I got from watching the doc is they're all -- ESPECIALLY MILES -- just completely beaten-down and defeated by the music biz in general, and I wouldn't be shocked (though EXTREMELY saddened) if we never heard anything from Miles ever again. He's like Mangum without the insanity. Strikes me as something of an extroverted recluse, if there is such a thing.
