Isnt one of the Greenhorne's albums supposed to be pretty good? Maybe the debut or the second one.

Never blew me away, but Gnarls Barkely covers one of their songs, so that's got to account for something.
They were a little too Black Keys-ish for my liking, if that's any indication of the waters you're treading in.

i like what i've heard off of "Dual Mono" a lot, they're a tight band. i've been meaning to buy this record for some time, hopefully i'll do it soon.

I used to have the debut, and for some reason I think it reminded me of The Doors. I know it shouldn't have, but it did.

I was thinking about picking up something from the Greenhornes for my brother for Christmas, because I've had an inkling they're something he'd get into. Any further thoughts, Obners?

they are a better live band...the records never matched that.

excellent point. i saw them open for the white stripes in 2001 and thought they were great. that first album's pretty good - basic debut recipe with a few awesome songs and a bunch that somehow weren't relegated to b-sides. i think, as seems to be the consensus, that dual mono is the more consistent album. and, really, i think it's best near the end. the song with holly golightly is particularly good.

They are ALL good, but the self-titled is their best.
