I dunno...any "best of" list that has Mew on it becomes immediately suspicious to me.

Yeah, not into them. I am vaguely familiar with the CD, as I am always hearing it emanate from my roommate's room, but I saw them live and wasn't into it. Just seems like they make up for a lack of songwriting ability with big, showy, overly dramatic productions. They also had some songs with "unusual" timing, but it seemed to be done for the sake of doing it, rather than because that was what the song really needed...which is something that really annoys me.

Don't read my list, then. Don't wanna go raising any suspicions.

Ehh, I typically like the Onion's reviews and features, but this list...not so much.

Also, if you want to overdose on Best of '06 lists...

Yeah, I don't really care for this list. A lot of really average stuff that we're going to hear about everywhere.

They've got a few interesting choices, but some of those blurbs are kinda dumb. Califone "bites" live? Uh, not so much.

Funny how the good stuff get's talked about and mentioned on so many lists, innit?

It's funny how when I say "average", you assume I'm talking about things you like.

Isn't it odd that Regina Spektor was on the "you didn't hear" list? One of the local stations almost singlehandedly ruined that album for me, and I really liked it at first.

sweet jesus Kev I got about halfway through "A" on that Large Hearted Boy page and decided I'm not looking at any more lists until after the holidays.

Pardon my assumption. I read too much into things sometimes.

Yeah, pretty intense eh? I read his blog in the morning and check out a few of the lists a day for kicks. Mostly, I feel sick after reading more than 3 in any one sitting. Oddly, it's the same sensation I get from watching MTV or reality tv. I fucking hate year end lists.

I would have preferred individual lists from each of the ONION's critic roll; they've done that in past years, with three or four albums from each list "blurbed".

As it is, I only trust two writers there -- Andy Battaglia & Tasha Robinson -- but sometimes one of the lesser-lights (usually, Keith Phipps, surprisingly) pulls a rabbit out of her/his ass & makes me re-think my opinion.

They have that -- it starts on the third page.
