the funniest thing about it that there's a poll on espn about who should be suspended and how many games and isiah thomas being suspended for 10 games or more is at 45%.

i wish that they could suspend the knicks just for being garbage. they're like the k-fed of the league and their very existence lowers everyone else's worth.

I was watching when it happens, though for the life of me I don't know why. The Knicks are a terrible team to watch right now, just not any fun at all (I think that the only reason I watch their games is because of Walt Frazier). The Nets are so much more entertaining from a basketball perspective.

But the fight almost made me sick to my stomach. I just have no words for it. I disliked the Knicks and Isiah Thomas before, and now I dislike them all three as much. Almost makes me want to say to hell with basketball.

Isiah Thomas and Nate Robinson need to stop whining about Anthony and Camby being in the game. As far as I'm concerned, Thomas and Robinson came out looking the worst. Nate Robinson is nothing but a thug.

I think Walt Frazier put it the best: "the only people that are going to benefit from this are the charities."

They need to fine the crap outta these guys. So much for being role models...

Even though I'm not really a big fan of the NBA (due to the Hawks current decade long crapfest) I think the league is at least more interesting when the Knicks are good which makes it suck even more.

I always enjoyed pulling against the Knicks back during those great Knick/Bulls playoff series or the even better those Knick/Heat defensive slugfests. You were just waiting on Alonzo or Charles Oakley to boil over.

Man, I hated John Starks.

OPA you're nuts. Carmelo came off worse. He'll get the big suspension and he's being called a little bitch on every Sporst radio station in America right now. Deservedly so.

Carmelo Anthony and Isaiah look the worst in my opinion. Being a star player, you should never take a cheap shot at someone when you weren't really involved in the initial fight.
As for Isaiah, it is a continuation of the Detroit Bad Boy mentality. He was pissed the Nuggets were making him look like a bitch and he decided to make sure his team sent a message. It might have been classless for the Nuggets to be playing four starters and dunking like that, but it doesn't call for a flagrant foul. Play decent basketball and you might not lose by 20.

Each organization is having to pay $500,000.

Suspensions:

Carmelo Anthony - 15 games
Nate Robinson - 10 games
JR Smith - 10 games
Mardy Collins - 6 games
Jared Jeffries - 4 games
Jerome James - 1 game (leaving bench)
Nene? - 1 game (leaving bench)

That's pretty devastating for the Nuggets. Not sure if they'll win a game without Carmelo and he has been having an MVP year so far.

No punishment for Isiah.

I didn't realize that punching someone in the face who is directly looking and talking shit to you is a cheap shot. Now backpedaling away after it was really lame...but i think that Collins and Robinson keep the thing going.

I'm sure this seals Isiah's fate...not that his devestating poor performance isn't a good enough reason.

Seems to me people over react any time something happens in the NBA. I mean, there's a fight in baseball like once a month or something like that and people don't feak out and act like its the end of the sport. Something about large black men fighting just gets people all scared.

Not sure I see where people are over reacting. People reacted to the Pistons/Pacers brawl because it was an unheard of fight with fans.

I think this got the same reaction that a bench clearing brawl in baseball would've gotten.

I'm not condoning fighting but I think there is a precedent for fighting in baseball and hockey. Some people think it's part of the game, like if a player gets beaned on purpose, the opposing pitcher should throw at him, etc.

Also, I think the NBA is dealing with severe image issues already and for many this stuff just validates the thoughts of the detractors.

BTW, anybody hear George Karl's comments from yesterday. Awesome.

Last I checked, Shawne Merriman (MEAST!) doesn't play for the Bengals. Romonowski never played for the Bengals, either.

Chmura wasn't a Bengal. Ron & New Mexico don't play for the Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger doesn't play for the Bengals. Nor does Terrell Owens. Nor Fred Smoot. Nor Tank Johnson.

League-wide, man.

The NFL is just DAT TEFLON.
