Just as a running FYI...

February 8th - The entire Boomtown Rats catalogue gets a long overdue deluxe reissuing (V Deep, Mondo Bongo, The Fine Art Of Surfacing, Tonic For The Troops, The Boomtown Rats, In The Long Grass).

February 15th - Remastered and expanded editions of the original six studio albums from The Hoodoo Gurus albums are being released (Stoneage Romeos, Mars Needs Guitars, Blow your Cool, Kinky, Crank, In Blue Cave).

February 15th - R.E.M. will re-release their entire Warner Bros. back catalogue (Green, Out of Time, Automatic for the People, Monster, New Adventures in Hi-Fi, Up, Reveal, Best Of, Around the Sun).

March 22 - Reissues of Dinosaur Jr.'s first three albums (Dinosaur, You're Living All Over Me, Bug). Previously released by the Homestead and SST labels, the sets have been remastered and include a smattering of bonus tracks and rare photos. Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Mike Watt and Guided By Voices' Robert Pollard contributed to new liner notes.

Feel free to add others...

I'll be interested to see what they do with the HG releases. In Blue Cave is an overlooked gem.

Figures that the Boomtown Rats stuff would be re-issued, now that I paid $30 for The Fine Art Of Surfacing on CD about a year ago. That's actually a good price, but still...

Nice to see the Hoodoo Gurus stuff getting some attention, too. This'll give me a chance to fill in a couple gaps I have with them.

Hey, why not. Morrissey and Franz Ferdinand's albums from last year are being re-released this year.

Let's all just screw the fans who buy our albums the day they're released. Instead we'll honor those who hear one song on the radio a year after it's been released and decide to buy our album then. They're the ones who can buy the album with bonus tracks. Instead of those stupid fans who buy our album when it first comes out. They can shell out the money twice!

If I Should Fall From Grace With God and the masterpiece Rum Sodomy & The Lash by the Pogues both came out just a week ago.

Of course more Cure remasters with all that bouns stuff. If any of them compare with that Three Imaginary Boys remaster than they will be more than worth the money of buying all over again. The Glove also in 2005?

So the only difference for the REM is a new mastering? Goddamnit.

I sold all my albums, figuring these would have b-sides and live cuts and be really worth my while.

I have four so far that I'm digging:

The above mentioned Manic Street Preachers, Suicide's hard to find third album, A Way of Life, Dean Roberts- And the Black Moths Play the Grand Cinema, and Augie March- Strange Bird.

All well worth your hard earned $$$

I just made a decision...

With the exception of Pornography, Head on the Door, Kiss me kiss me, kiss me, distentergration, and Wish, I am not buying any other of the CURE reissues....

<---reserves the right to change that statement.

I'd keep Porno & Disintegration on that list and change to Seventeen Seconds and Faith.

I've seen the original CD release go for $75-ish on eBay. Of course, I doubt you could get that much now.

I bought my copy for $28 a couple years ago. It was $40, but I had $12 in trade credit. It was the only copy I've ever seen.

"TFAOS" was a big gateway record for me...I got it & "London Calling" as 8th grade graduation presents.

At least with Wilco's - A Ghost is Born re-release, if you have the disc already, there's a Wilco web site to dl the 5 tracks from the bonus cd. They were thinking of the fan there.

I realize these aren't all reissues of actual releases, but each contains older material being re-released (and in most cases remastered). If mentioned in previous posts, it's not listed below...

Lee "Scratch" Perry: I Am the Upsetter: The Story of... - boxset (April 17)
Sloan: A-Sides Win - The Best Of... 1992-2004 (May 10)
Poi Dog Pondering: Best Of (May 17)
Oasis: Definitely Maybe - dualdisc with DVD video & some audio (May 17)
At The Drive-In: Anthology: This Station Is Non-Operational - rarities (May 24)
Belle & Sebastian: Push Barman to Open Old Wounds - 2CD collection of EPs, singles (May 24)
Steel Pulse: Earth Crisis and True Democracy - each remastered w/ bonus tracks (June 7)
The Ramones: Weird Tales Of... - boxset (June 21)

and not for everyone, but...
Bruce Springsteen: Born To Run - 30th Anniversary Edition - the original album remastered and two discs full of rarities, outtakes, alt versions, etc. - August '05
