NMR: Mac folks- a question

I know nothing about Macs, so bear with me here- Are there any zip or rar type utilities that are cross-platform compatible with pc?

what are you really asking?
both of those file compression types are already compatible on both OS's.

I guess that's it- I sent someone a rar file and he doesn't know what to do with it, and I can't tell him, because I know sweet fuck all about Macs.
