I'm bored and after the 3 day bender I had last weekend I'm going to lay off the sauce this weekend. (and save some money)

I have an interest in seeing all of these so any input on why you pick the one you did would help.

I might even see two this weekend. May catch a matinee on Sunday.

Based solely on the reviews that I have heard, Children of Men is getting the best. But, I haven't seen any of them and have never herad of Volver.

I thought The Good Shepard was really well done, but it was long, probably too long. Great cast, the acting was superb, but it's the kind of movie you have to be the right frame of mind for, not a lot of action or excitment.

Blood Diamond was great and alot of fun.

I thought 'The Good Sheppard' was too long, and a bit boring....but not horrible.

What's the o-ccasion?

I got nothing for you on these flicks, Ben. I wanted to see The Good Shepard but its getting some crappy reviews so I'll wait.

I've got 'Miami Vice', 'Talladega Nights', and My Morning Jacket 'Okonokos' on DVD down here though if you get too bored.

Oh nothing. Gonna be in Asheville NC the week prior for work. So I figured why not drive 3 hours down to ATL that weekend and ruin some friendships.

Podblast anyone?

I'll be around; Too bad you won't be around for the MLK Day Reenactment the weekend before.

Woo-hoo! Asheville! Sorry to interrupt the conversation, but I'm a transplant to here about a year and a half ago and still haven't stopped spewing on how great this place is. I even managed to come upon a front license plate with a skyline shot of Asheville with the words "Asheville - YOUR town sucks!"

And anyway...yeah, see Children of Men. It looks to be fantastic.

Aren't you a Ron Sexsmith fan?

If so, he's playing that Saturday night at Smith's Old Bar. $15.

Martin Sexton, but I've heard some of his stuff too and I rikey well enough. Is that your destination that night?

If I didn't hate you, Busty, I'd make an effort to make it.

Derris, where is the "suck fumes" option?

Actually, Good Shepherd is really fucking good. Its just methodical. So, stupid people will be apt to not get the nuances. Bloor, you know enough about the history of what's going on that you would enjoy it.

I was considering Children of Men, but rented Vice and Inside Man instead.

Nah, just listing some options and I thought you were a pretty big fan.

I'll most likely be pounding beers and watching the playoffs wherever.

I had We Are Marshall on the original poll but it didn't show up for some reason. I still want to see it despite the mixed reviews. I'm sucker for most sports movies. (see: Remember the Titans)

I just got around to reading the last four pages of that mega-thread.

Sounds like you hate everyone these days.

Sorry Derris, won't hijack your thread anymore.

I honestly want to see this but for some reason I thought it was going to be more Motown movie than Broadway Musical and the people I know who've seen say it's the latter.

I'll most likely end up seeing it just so I can be make better picks for my Oscar Night pick em contest.

I like Almodovar, so I vote Volver.
But if nihlism were my mood... Children Of Men sounds intriuging, too.

i just saw Children of Men at "lunch" and i recommend it. not blow-you-away amazing, but definitely good. i'm a little upset that the sigur ros tune in the preview is not actually used in the film.

i do want to see Volver as well at some point.
