It was snowing here a couple of days ago, and I listened to:

Galaxie 500 - On Fire
Kate Bush - Hounds of Love
the CURE - Seventeen Seconds

For me that's my 'summer' album.

although nothing beats Emperor-"In The Nightside Eclipse" for a sub-zero ice storm.

my #1 choice as well. still remember the week this came out...i had it playing in my car during a huge snowstorm where it took me 2 hours to get from denver to boulder. cars were on the side of the road, it was complete white out...and this album was the perfect soundtrack.

the first shins album is what i was listening to when i was walking in the snow for the first time in boston a few years ago. the fact they're talking about snow in the first song and at the close of the album ices for me (no pun intended).

the whistling at the beginning will always remind me of walking to the t in harvard sq. from my first apartment as snow is falling.

and by the way--i don't think i'm capable of trying to type "the" and and not typing "teh" by mistake. drives me up the frickin' wall

the first thing that came to mind was "and nothing turned itself inside-out" by yo la tengo. sigur ros works. bjork's vespertine and phil collins both sides works for me.

heh.

this is one of these bands I apparently should like but...much like overdosing on cottoncandy---hearing them makes me want to barf.

I like cotton candy too.

No should or shouldn't like about it. Either ya like it or not. And, while I like them quite a bit (the first two records anyway), I can see how meandering, droning music with some Icelandic folks babbling in an unintelligable language may not be for everyone.

At least tell me you shot heroin into your eyelids while listening to the Lunatic shit.

I used to love driving around in the snow listening to Toots & the Maytals but my friend ruined my copy of that so I do it no more.
