Like the man said, it was an inevitability.

I'll be shocked if they make it through the first third of the tour without re-re-breaking up. It's hard to comprehend how unexcited I am about this, given the fact that they were my favorite band throughout high school.

I can't believe that this summer's biggest tours are Genesis, The Police, and Van Halen. Is it 2007 or 1985? Ugh.

R.E.M. & Metallica should prolly be going on tour, in the latter case, then.

& U2 is going to have a new album to promote.

Imagine this monstrous bill: The Police, w/ U2 & Genesis opening.

I was lucky enough to see them with Gary Cherone.

i never saw genesis in their pg heyday, or even pc's heyday, so this is the best i can do. i'll take it (unless it costs way too much, which it might.)

i've seen both roth & hagar solo & they both left me unimpressed. roth moreso with his "wows" and helicopter leg kicks after EVERY song. *sigh*

Thing is, you prolly were thinking they were "ironic", like when Fall out boy & Get up kids do those, but with Roth, they're not. Helicopter kicks & coke-fuelled nouveau scat are his stock-in-trade... & it's brilliant.

Wow. That's garbage beyond words. Nice work, TOK.

I saw Roth solo five or six years ago and thought it was fan-tastic.

Yeah, I'm thinking it was Anthony who despised Roth more so than the Van Halen brothers. So, with Wolfgang in, the brothers have enough control that Roth will know who's boss before he steps in. But he won't necesarily have to fight with them.

Yeah, it was pretty lame. My best friend was a huge Van Halen fan at the time, I think we were like 13, and he didn't really care that Cherone was with the band at the time. He just wanted to see VH.

Ha, similiar story. When I was 15-16, my brother was home from the Navy and my mom said she'd pay for us to go to a show to get us out of the house--we were both big fans of Alice In Chains' Facelift at the moment and they were playing...opening for Van Halen, so we went. It was free. Two things stood out to me about Van Halen (this was Hagar era):

1. I was astonished at how many hard core, like Deadhead-esque fans they had. It was very disconcerting.

2. They put on a really good show. No lie.

I don't think there is any one band I despise more than Van Halen.

How many times is this now? It's like they all want the money but can't live with each other long enough to reap the rewards.

I love VH w/ DLR.
But I think that this will be a mountain of broken hips and unfulfilled promise.

Like bad sex at a geriatric home.
