The main problem this commercial had was its complete lack of TEH FUNNY, not anything about offending anyone.

wasn't there a beer commercial a while back with the same exact plot... only the two dudes accidentally held hands.. then had to do something manly?

To be honest with you, I actually thought it was actually pro-gay than anti. More of a satire on homophobia in the white suburban landscape--but that's the media analyst still in me.

...latently homosexual mechanics.

The commercial was ok until the "quick do something manly" part, but then it went rapidly downhill.

The GM commercial was in pretty poor taste.

The Liberal in me says:

I can see their issue. It portrays this idea that being percieved gay is so bad that they have to rip their chest hair out, etc. Bad idea to promote.

The moderate Repub in me says:

Christ people pick your battles. This is being overly PC and it's stupid to waste your time over something so UNFUNNY to begin with.

I suddenly am craving a Snickers w/ almonds.

What GM commercial are we talking about?

the ripping out of the chest hair thing was painfully forced. teh build up was mildly amusing.

Offensive because of the suicide attempt?

Isn't sort of a modern day Maytag Repairman ad?

Offensive because thousands of their workers are being / will be laid off, and are in all likelihood sitting there watching the super bowl (and this ad). The premise of the commercial is such that one feels some sympathy for the laid off robot. You get the jist.

Is that a new allusion to a penis?

Incidentally, and of no interest to anyone except me...that Garmin ad with the band featured the ex-singer of Grim Reaper, Steve Grimmett whom I have not heard or seen in years.

Truly a WTF moment for me as I recognized his voice right away.

Carry on with whatever this thread is about.

Right, except for the fact that it kind of celebrates the good work they are doing. I guess Jewelz has a point that its kind of like a MM doc, but
I guess we could ratchet up the tariffs, and then we couldn't get all of our cheap trinkets from China anymore?
