Chicago decides not to negotiate with him any further, and Norv Turner is coaching the Bolts.

So, to sum up, neither the Chargers nor Bears will appear in another Super Bowl for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, the Bears probably gave away their best coach and the Chargers went with a guy who isn't even good enough to get to the playoffs most years let alone the Super Bowl.

The Bears certainly did not give away their best coach. I'm not sorry to see Rivera go. Babich will do just fine.

Shit, now Urlacher and crew are going to have to learn how to make half time adjustments.

No shit!

This isn't a big deal for the Bears. Rivera's contract was up, he was in constant discussion for HC jobs, he'd probably be hired next year anyway by some other team.

Babich has been with Lovie Smith since St. Louis. He's been our linebacker coach and assistant head coach since Lovie came to Chicago, so he knows the players and the system. I think it was a pretty smart move to just part ways with Rivera now.

Yeah, I'm not very sorry to see him go either.

If we are able to retain Briggs next year and get everyone back that was hurt on defense, there's no reason we shouldn't be dominant on that side of ball again next year. The Bears' schedule looks really good too.

Now about that offense...

Get with the times, bro. They franchised Briggs a day or two ago.

You got Rex Grossman, man, what're you worried about?

For those calling for Rex's head right now, think about this for a minute: this was his FIRST complete year as a starting QB. If you look at all the great QB's in the modern era such as Favre, Montana, Marino, etc., they all struggled in that first year but showed streaks of brilliance.

Rex will be back next year and better too.

Yeah, I know he got franchised but that's not a 100% guarantee that he'll stay with Chicago.

And Loog, how long have you been lurking, waiting to use my quote? I figured you'd at least wait until NEXT YEAR to throw it in my face.

Oh, I think he'll definately be around next year. We can match any offer a team extends to him, and if we don't, we receive two first round picks in compensation. Briggs is a great LB, but I don't see any team paying that high of a price.

1) Rivera just landed the San Diego LB coaching job.
2) Briggs isn't even close to worth what he's making... I'm hoping some other team thinks he is and gives us their 1st and 3rd round draft picks.

Don't flatter yourself, some of us have greater knowledge retention than your average goldfish...and some of us don't. I say Reading Comprehension, you say Rex Grossman!

So Rivera has gone from being everyone's next head coach to still the Bears' Defensive Coordinator to a mere LINEBACKERS COACH??? I hope there aren't any tall buildings in San Diego for him to jump off of, 'cause bro's done some serious career backsliding here.

I think the Bolts are following the supposed Cowboys plan, they are going to groom Rivera for the job under Norv Turner. He took the lesser postion so he can handle and learn some of the head coaching duties.

Univ. of FL QB's suck in the NFL and so do UGA QB's.
