Pretty scary. A bunch of twists. Not a great flick by any stretch, but I enjoyed it enough for the 90 minutes it was going on. Acting was pretty bad though.

I downloaded it. Shhhhhh. I didn't like it that much, but then again, the Cam sucked, so i wasn't paying attention.

I don't like horror flicks much, but I thought it was genuinely disturbing. But I'm still trying to decide if the ending was really as corny as it appeared to be - or if I just missed something.

I saw it and liked it for the most part....

The dialogue though sounds like it was written by a 15 year old.

Of the 9 or 10 reviews I've read of this, every critic despised this movie. They said it was terribly written, clumsily directed and deeply unpleasant. Plus they wondered how the director was able to cast himself in a lead role.

Haven't seen it, so don't know.

I went to seesaw. I thought that if the movie cost was down to a much more manageable 4.50 rather than 9.75 I would have felt I spent my money wisely. It had some freaky moments, but overall I thought the acting was quite awful. Danny Glover would make random moaning noises which I thought were humorous. Cary Ewles needs to stick to his one good movie, The Princess Bride, and I could almost swear that the wife in this movie was the same from 7. It's doubtful, but I thought it was a rather poor rip-off of that movie. Plus, if the twist at the end hadn't happened I would have been completely outraged at spending money on this film.

What's the movie supposed to be about? Or would that give it away? If so, I don't wanna know.

That's fucking lame. The only guy allowed to do that really is Silent Jay, but then again, he doesn't speak.

Doesn't sound too interesting to me, I know nothing about it though.

Oh, and Zach Braff.

The writer, not the director, is the one in the lead role.

I'll see it this week probably.

It has still received better reviews than The Grudge.

i wouldn't really consider the grudge and Saw in the same genre at all. So, that's like saying that Porky's received worse reviews than American History X.

Yeah. My bad. James Wan directed it. Leigh Whannell wrote it.

I put them both in the horror genre. But yeah, if you want to get all "comic book guy" about it - they are quite different.

Maybe it's just because I am twisted, but I wouldn't classify Saw as a horror flick. that's all I am saying. I think particularly because it wasn't some supernatural being of sorts that goes around scaring and murdering people. It's just a psychological thriller. that's how I'd deem it. But like I said, I am twisted.

Speaking both as an ex-home video professional and an insufferable ponce, every video store in America will file this in the Horror section.

That's because blockbuster and hollywood video are closeminded jackasses:)

There tends to be no such section at a video store for psychological thriller and there is certainly too much gore in Saw for it to be a drama or suspense film.

However, I tend to try and categorize films, not by where the video store will file it, rather by where it seems to fit in as it relates to film genre.

but, I am certainly no movie expert either.

I snuck into this today after I saw The Grudge. The Grudge was okay, easier to follow than the japanese version but it seems like it's all been done before i.e. Ringu. I've heard that Ju-on 2 is really scary.

Saw was decent but I agree with Hegel that if that twist hadn't happened at the end it would've been just average. I guess because it did so well opening weekend that they're planning a sequel.

Did anyone see the trailer for High Tension before Saw? I want to know what song was playing during the trailer but I can't find a link online that works.

edit: the song during High Tension, i remember some of the lyrics "something something you're my baby. baby baby baby baby baby" haha that helps!
