The other night, I went to see The Fratellis, Pipettes and LaRocca perform at my favourite lil' venue, The Troubadour. Show was great, had no complaints. I'm certain I would've had a better time if I had been fully recuperated from SXSW. Nonetheless, a good time was had.

Two-thirds of the way into The Fratellis' performance, a girl who was in the back of the audience decided to 'dance' her way to the front of the stage. She ended up right in front of the lead singer (Jon), shoving her way next to a couple who are friends of mine. The couple shared angry words with her -- they arrived early to the venue and were first in line. 'Dancey Girl' told 'em that she didn't care and continued her gyrations in front of the singer. I had noticed Jon Fratelli had watched her dance and shove her way to the front. As soon as the song was over with, she yelled something to the singer, Unfortunately, he didn't hear, leaned slightly forward and yelled "WHAT?" She repeated whatever her comment was to which the singer replied something to the effect, "I don't speak English!" or "You need to speak English!" Next thing ya know, Dancey Girl was in tears and walked out. Friends later heard her say that it was "the worst concert she'd ever been to".

Awww, I guess no one told her that karma can be a bitch! I personally thought it was frickin' hilarious! Way to go, Jon Fratelli!! Btw, I met him after the show and he was as nice as can be...didn't make me cry at all.

No, that thread would be titled, "Message Board Makes Fratellis Fan Cry."

yay, tania... I love it when bad karma swings around and slaps those that deserve it. I've had way too many "dancey girls" in my midst at shows, so it's always nice to see them get their comeuppance.

haha. I hope this is what he said and her fragile sensibility was crushed.

Nothing worse than a packed house and some idiots favorite song comes on they feel the need to push their way to the front.

Even worse, the 3-4 girl human chain attempting to do it.

what's just as bad are the girls already at the front who scream at the first recognizable notes of every song by some band with one album. i feel like slapping them and saying, "they only have 35 minutes of material. of course they're gonna play that." it's not really like going to see sonic youth and they bust out with "kool thing" or something.

When I was in high school, y friends and I went to see motley crue, and wound up with the worst seats in the house.....im talking oppostie end of the arena, top tier, 3 rows from the back....nobody within 300 feet were standing . i have no problem kicking back and enjoying the show...

but there were two girls one row in front of us who insisted on standing, waving their arms, and screaming throughout the whole show......we asked them nicely to at least move to the aisle, as the whole section was glaring at them for being more of a disruption, then anything...

we just took turns pouring our drinks and spitting into their coats....

what do you expect. we were 16 at the time....

yeah, I had this same experience at age 15, except me and my friends were the ones standing up and dancing. It was at a Frankie Goes to Hollywood concert in Atlanta, and we were the only girls in a sea of gay men. The guys behind us kept saying stuff like "I did NOT pay my money to look at your ass all night." (said in a very affected bitchy tone of voice)

Did you tell those guys behind you to...RELAX?

(bracing for wrath of shiv for yet another infraction)

Dude, I was still wasted from the all the free beer the day before. Don't get me wrong; it's passable and kinda catchy in spots but nothing about it sticks to my ribs at all.

Hey, we all make bad decisions when under the influence. But I still stand by my above-stated and previous assessments that this band is in no way remarkable.

And if we're being literal, I don't stand by anything. But you get the idea.
