so i got this ish of under the radar. it had modest mouse on the cover. i'm not even half way through it but it has been very useful. the mag writers' best-of-2006 picks are pretty much the same ol' suff, but what they did is ask some artists to make their own top 10s.

Joey Burns (Calexio) had Benjy Ferree's Leaving The Nest on his list, whom i know nothing about but his album is awesome. there are maybe 1 or 2 tracks that rock out in the new school garage sense, but mostly his album is singer/songwriter stuff - perfect pop, the kind that makes you wish that you've been listening to it for years, even though it's the first time through.


also he recommended the Euros Childs Chops album, the main dude from Gorky's Zygotic Mynci went solo. i liked the first two GZM albums but after that everything wasn't as solid or catchy. this solo album is back to the old classic type of super-catchy psychedelic welsh pop that i loved way back then.

can't wait to find more gems from this issue.
