Just checking out the live coverage and remembered you might be part of this. Saw this on velonews and it made me wistful....

10:49 AM Waffles & altitude
With a Waffle House truck parked just a few yards away, it would only be appropriate to say "Howdy Y'all" and welcome back to live coverage of stage 4 of the 2007 Tour De Georgia on velonews.com

;)

How's Levi, Dave Z. and Tom Danielson looking?

edit: oh, oh, and I mustn't forget Tyler Hamilton... how's he looking? Strong, I hope.

Yep. I was on duty for the Macon and Rome stages. Weather has been awesome this week and I'm more than happy to be outside for a couple days and out of the office.

There was a bizarre 13 rider breakaway yesterday that didn't have ANY of the big name riders in it. Not sure why but nobody caught and it wasn't even close. The gap is around 30 minutes at this point. The winner will come out of that 13 rider group.

Looks like things will be decided by today's time trial and in the mountains tomorrow.

I actually presented the Sprint jersey to Daniele Contrini on Tuesday.

Oh and that Waffle House RV is awesome. Unfortunately they aren't serving food out of it.

No worries. You should start a thread. Nobody is going to look in a cycling thread. Cotton should be able to tell you the most details. Pretty sure he went to school there for a while.

I've only been there twice and once was for the MASSIVE St. Patricks Day party they have on the river.

You should definitely go down to River St. and check it out. It's right on the river and there are tons of bars and restaurants down there. Real old world vibe with cobblestone streets and converted cotton warehouses where all the clubs/restaurants/shops/bars are now.

Restaurants range from cheap, shack like oyster houses with cheap beer to 4 star restaurants down there. Bars range from your touristy joints with bad cover bands to more laid back places the further you get from the river. There are a couple good places a couple blocks off the river but for the life of me I can't remember their names.

You have quick walking access from River St. to City Market and the historic squares of Savannah.

I don't know of any record stores. I was usually drinking or recovering the whole time I was there.

If you can get there early enough on Friday there are usually drink special galore at every place down there.

Nicely done, sir! I love the mtn. stages... separates the men from the boys, so to speak. And I do miss seeing a Waffle House at every freeway off-ramp.

no worries about highjacking, Dri... guess what, Ben? I'll be in Atlanta on May 24-26, so you and Bloor better meet up with me while I'm there. We can finalize plans later, but I'm thinking Brewhouse Cafe already.

Nice!

I think that actually works out. I think that is the 1st weekend that I won't either be out of town or working from now until then.

Isn't 25-27 Memorial Day?

Guess that's the response I get to my invite. See you in hell!

HAHAHA! I just looked and it is Memorial day.

Dana, looks like we'll need to hang on Thursday night if you can.

I *MIGHT* be out of town.

I hear ya. There should be plenty of hipster joints down there also come to think of it.

There are all kinds of art school folks down there going to Savannah College of Art and Design which is one of the better art schools in the South.

Like I said, Cotton would know more than me.
