Greetings, my fellow obnoblins! This is your old pal, FT. I realize I've come up with some pretty hare-brained schemes of late (i.e. LOOG Central), but thanks to the absolute freaking genius of g (for finding WASTE), smafty (for figuring out how to use WASTE), and tkyd (for helping pilot the launch of WASTE with smafty), I am thrilled to announce:

WE NOW HAVE OUR OWN PRIVATE MAC- AND PC-FRIENDLY SOULSEEK EQUIVALENT!

That's right...we can browse each other's music collections, have both individual and group chats, and transfer files back and forth to our heart's content. This works regardless of what type of PC or OS you are running, so we expect FULL PARTICIPATION.

I'm a little leery of this thing. Before I install it, can somebody explain what, exactly it does, and how it is better than slsk?

What are you leery of? It works a lot like soulseek, except it's a private network so you don't have to worry about being busted for swapping files.

The initial setup is a tad tricky, but smafty (Donovan) should be able to get you up and running pretty quickly. Believe me, it is WELL WORTH IT! Please don't be leery. I am one of the most skeptical people around about downloading software with which I am not familiar, but this is 100% kosher.

And it's better than Soulseek in that it works on both Apple/Mac and PC, as well as various operating systems. Believe the hype, people! I AM BEGGING YOU!!!

i couldnt get it to work, so im using the windows version through virtual pc for now.

ok that link sent me to a file name which i had to find the downloadable file on, and then when I opened the file from here:

You have to select one of those mirrors that are listed. Click on the icon under Download for the mirror that is closest to you.

yea, the first time I did it it downloaded a 1 kb file. I tried again and it did the same thing, so I did a save as and changed the name to something unique from the 1 kb file, and voila, that one worked.

Hang in there, timmy...did you get the PM I sent you? You'll get it figured out soon. Once you're in, you won't have to go through this whole setup again.

i did get the pm, and i added all the keys and did some searches for the ip addresses and it just says searching...and the network is still down
