introduction

"Eternal Flame" - Bangles
"I Got You Babe" – Sonny and Cher (eh)
"Groovy Kind of Love" – Phil Collins (cheesy, but ive always had a soft spot for this song)
"Sweet Thing" - Van Morrison
"Northern Sky" - Nick Drake

bride/dad and groom/mom dance will take place at the same time
"You are the Sunshine of my Life" - Stevie Wonder (boring, imo)

btw, i think picking out 3 songs for these three dances or whatever is a very dull and predictable thing to do.

just felt the need to put that out there...

i have always thought that instrumentals worked best as introduction songs. i was at a wedding years ago where they played "linus and lucy" as they were introduced and it brought the house down.

Odd request isn't it? I mean if I were having a wedding (which I wouldn't have much outside of going to a registry office or whatever it is that Darrin wants), I would want to pick all the music out myself. In fact, I couldn't have anyone else coordinate that sort of event for me, that would drive me to Type A edge of doom (i.e. implosion).

So what music are they having for the ceremony? And I agree with melissa, music is key, and was something i had a lot of input on at mine.

There are a million correct answers to your query and everyone will have a different opinion.

All I know is that at Yail Bloor's wedding the final song of the night was "Freebird" and it brought the fucking house down.

If there's a Mom/Me dance, it's Steve Winwood's "Higher Love." Done.

...and what Derris said.

This might sound wrong since it is your sister, but:

Baby Got Back - Sir Mix A Lot

Always goes over huge at weddings

Also, my wife and I played:

You are my Joy - Reindeer Section

The one song to absolutely avoid at weddings?

No Children - The Mountain Goats

Other than Open Window, that's not what we used, i just came up with stuff for eliza off the top of my head. We do have that playlist at home though, i'll type it up.

I keep reading the title as "Sia" not "sis", wondering how the hell you know Sia.

Another clue: keep it short. 3 minutes, 3:40 tops. Back at my wedding, we picked a 5 minute song, and somewhere around minute 4, we both started muttering to each other, "didn't realize how long this song was".

And no, we don't know how to dance, so strike that advice if they're going to do actual ballroom dancing.

My wife and I danced to "Nobody Knows Me" By Lyle Lovett & His Large Band

The Next Song we used was "Sugar In My Bowl" by Nina Simone

Then "Ain't That A Kick In The Head" by Dean Martin

we figured go quirky but acceptable to all early in the evening, and then get far weirder as the evening grew more drunken and all the "Obligated-to-be-at-the-wedding" relatives and family social acquaintances went home for the night. I felt anal picking over half of the playlist, but I felt the wedding DJ knew enough to match and fit with other patrons tastes too.

It was New Years Eve, and they all got shit-faced and danced well past Midnight.
