Does Trent no longer believe in quality control?

This could easily be (and should have been) cut down to 14 tracks. It's laughable that there's so many songs on this, many of which lack anything remotely interesting.

maybe in the interest of brevity it would be better at 14 tracks, but hes releasing it all on the internet anyway, so the difference between releasing 14 tracks and whatever he did release is minimal. plus, he can charge more for people who want the whole thing on cd. also, he released the whole thing under a license that would allow you to change the track sequence and redistribute it.

quality control. he has none. he's blowing this up to be some "mega epic journey", trying to create value, when in actuality, all it is is a bunch of ideas, with a handful of finished tunes.

It was all downhill after Pretty Hate Machine. The Downward Spiral did have some fine moments though.

I admire the guy for generating press after a plodding through a fairly stalled-out career. Maybe he should give away "The Fragile" too. Or press it onto 180 gram vinyl and sell it for a hundred bucks along with some postcards.

I understand your point completely, and I might even agree with it to an extent, but I also understand his need to release it unedited.I mean, think about it -- he has this reputation for doing everything by hisself alone in the studio -- an emo-esque, non-vegan Moby -- and taking forever, and being all about the studio, and being technical, and not about the music, and not spontaneous.

What's the obvious experiment? To do the exact opposite -- to release what is effectively live-in-the-studio. Completely spontaneous, not by himself.

If one doesn't experiment, one is playing it safe, and I hate it when artists play it safe. If you don't fall flat on your face once in a while, you aren't trying hard enough.

Trent has earned my trust after 20 years of enjoying his music....$10 for a double CD with the MP3's immediately....If I only play it once a year or so, it was worth it....
