I always thought this would be the greatest job on the earth (besides being a superhero). I've tried looking up info regarding qualifications for such a position but have'nt been able to find any.

I've went to school for audio/recording engineering and still cant find a god damn thing for this position.

Is it a secret?

Do you have to know some one to get this position?

Anyone have a fucking clue???

Putting together soundtracks for film...I would 'nt care if it paid peanuts, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I really need to get out of the midwest, or at least...Ohio.

If any one has any ideas, please let me know.

Thanks

I was really interested in it too. But music biz lawyer Donald Passman makes it sound like the anti-dream job as far as music biz jobs go. You gotta meet the needs of like 10 different parties at the same time...the artist, the record company, the publisher, the director, etc. somehow before a movie is released (which isn't as easy as it sounds). And big movies don't like to be put on hold for some fuckin song on a soundtrack.

By the way All You Need to Know About the Music Business by Donald Passman is a good book. I think it's on the 3rd edition now.

Thanks..
I actually took a class on it.
Pretty interesting but I was ready to pull my hair out by the end of the course. It's so frustrating with all the legal bullshit that is tagged with it.

In this town (Los Angeles), it pretty much requires having to know someone. A friend of Dri and me does exactly that...I hate him. Well, I hate that he has a fuckin' sweet ass job -- he's actually a pretty cool guy.

I work with a lot of these people, and it clearly is just knowing someone that'll get you the job. Lots and lots of people can do it well.

Did Angel ever have a college radio show? Everyone else I know who's does that has/had a radio show.

Personally I think a director that doesn't do it him/her self is a director who makes movies not worth seeing. But somehow people shit themselves over Michael Mann movies so maybe I'm wrong
