To work or school. By foot, car, train, bike?

Also, what do you do during: phone, music, talk radio, book?

Those that work from home can play as well. How far do you travel to your coffee maker?

Me...

Miles round trip: In car, 24 (4 miles spent on I-95)

Usually NPR or music

Same as you, Dale, I listen to a lot of NPR. But I have no music player in my car, so if it's not NPR, it's WXRT.

I would love to be able to start taking the train again.

It depends- when I have a specific functional assignment, travel distance can be 1/2 way around the world. Otherwise, some days, I don't even get dressed.

11 mile drive to work.

If I am not carpooling with my dad, I listen to Bob and Tom in the morning and music at night. My dad has never been into music and he would rather chat. And by chat, I mean, make awkward small talk and silence.

I've never measured it but probably <5 min by car. 'Free Bird' came on one time when I pulled out of the driveway and by the time I shut off the truck the solo hadn't even started.

I haven't measured it either but it's 4 exits, about 8 minutes drive on average.

It's always cds. The radio hasn't worked since my nice stereo got stolen in march 04 when I was working in Chicago Public. No big loss.

Sometimes I don't have music on cause I'm writing music in my head.

30 miles one way, almost all freeway.

I mostly listen to CDs (music or audiobooks).

Last two months - bout 40 step to my basement office set-up

In two weeks - bus which picks me up on my corner to Port Authority, NYC, then a 9 block walk.... (Total Miles - Probably about 25. Total time door to door - 50-55 minutes)

3 miles on 85 S, and then navigating downtown, which is only annoying because of lights, not traffic. So, 10 minutes total - either on the phone or listening to cds or talk radio.

5 miles of (very) rural driving one way in my truck.

CD's the vast majority of the time. ESPN radio sometimes.

3.8 miles one way. I take Highland west across downtown, turn right on Marietta St., keep left at the split and there I am. Generally about 12-15 minutes.

Unfortunately, I'll be temporarily moving up to Duluth at the end of the month. Going from a 4 mile commute to a 28 mile commute will suck.

It's a 30 mile commute to West Hollywood from my house involving 3 freeways - 605, 10 and 101. Depending on traffic and weather conditions, it can take 35 minutes to 2+ hours to get to work. Though, the primarily commute time is 1.5 hours.

Oh, and ever since Indie 103 was eliminated from my stereo dial, it's been an NPR and classical music commute. Or, I'll listen to one of the CDs hanging out in one of my two vehicles.

My commute is about 12 miles each way on a Pace bus. I mostly listen to music on my iPod and read the free daily paper.

16 miles each way, when I go into the office...if I'm on-site with a client, ???

usually listening to NPR or podcasts in the morning...tunes for the drive home

I've found that my commute is actually a lot better taking the city streets...the highways around here are usually too clogged to make them worthwhile...add in the fact that more and more of them are becoming toll roads, and it's just not worth it

20-minute walk + 17-minute train commute. it's not bad at all. but if the weather is really bad, i might take a bus instead of walking.

About 25 miles one way, 23 of which are on I-85. With mild traffic it takes me about 30 minutes.

Mornings are mostly Sportstalk radio. I bring coffee with me and mentally check out for the drive. Well, other than yelling at the painter's vans for driving 65 in the far left lane. These people should be killed.

After work is usually 50/50 music or sportstalk. I'm 89% more likely to throw on some loud and abusive tunes post-work then pre-work.

I live a half mile from my job. I walk in the morning, and tend to jog back after work. I don't listen to any music, since it wouldn't normally be more than a song or two and would require me to carry more crap to work.
