Here's my vegas advice. Don't even try to make it anything more than it is, which is super cheesy. Don't take it seriously, and you can have a great time. The new places are one disney tourist trap after another with weak drinks and high table minimums. The older places is where you find value.

See Cats' old thread, and try to top it.

Five days? Wow...way too many days to spend in Vegas. Unless, of course, you're planning on doing some sightseeing to Lake Mead or Boulder Dam. If you've never been, you'll be bored by the 3rd day.

There might be a band or two playing while you're there. Check out www.vegas.com

Hope you have fun!

I've slapped Extreme Elvis on his bare ass and been punched by a stripper at Big Daddy's. IF I were to come fully out of retirement, there will never be cameras.

I would normally agree since I have to go out there for a week every year for work and I'm usually scrambling to get the fuck out. I've always wanted to keep this type of schedule in Vegas:

Noon: Wake up, lunch
1pm: Hit the pool, lounge, recover from previous night.
5pm: Nap city
8pm: pre-dinner drinks, gambling
9pm: dinner
11pm: Begin the evening debauchery in whatever form it may take. Forget the clocks.

Spearmint Rhino and Score's are the famous shoe modeling establishments and they charge accordingly. Ridiculously overpriced. Go some place more appreciative of your business.

I don't really have any restaurant recommendations. I've taken customers to all different places in and out of casinos and they're all pretty much overpriced with varying levels of quality. Rumjungle isn't bad at Mandalay Bay.

I don't gamble a whole lot but I will say that all the big name joints have way high bet minimums. The dives and off strip joints are where you can find the $5 poker/blackjack/craps tables where you and your buddies can have some real fun and not stress over some $25 per hand shit. The downtown places on Fremont St. have some pretty cheap action but depending on where you're staying can be a hassle getting there and back. Assuming you're drinking the whole time.

If any of your buddies play slots, I recommend getting one of those gambling cards from whatever casino you're staying in. Even if you only use it for $50-$100 of gambling it might get you a comped meal somewhere in the casino. My folks go prettty often and live on those things. They like playing slots though.

Also, Lake Mead rents out boats for the day depending on what time of year you're going. Less than an hour from Vegas.

Always though that would be a great side trip if you were out there for a week. Draw straws to see who would be the sober driver of the boat and car.

I think it takes visiting this fine establishment to fully understand the implications of what this means.

Punched, and she was wearing this big ass ring. I even checked to see if I were bleeding.

My friend to the right had a temporary tattoo from a few hours earlier: a tranny from the place on the other side of the street had kissed him on the cheek and it wouldn't wipe off.

Been 10 times. Same shit I always recommend:

Any one of several Capriotti's location for the best sub sandwiches you've ever had
http://www.capriottis.com/

Lotus of Siam: Best thai you've ever had. Only place I've left 100% tip
because the food was so damned good and cheap. They even have a hidden second Northern Thai menu you have to ask for, and two 1-10 spice scales, one for white people and one for asians.
http://www.saipinchutima.com/

Pinball hall of fame museum. Cost you $5-$10 to waste an entire afternoon on pristinely kept machines from all eras.
http://www.pinballmuseum.org/

If you want a great local/dive bar with good music, lots of rough looking dudes and chicks, and an adjoining Taco Fresco, Money Plays Lounge (4755 W Flamingo). I think there's also a rub-n-tug next door.

Lots of table/games recs too. for Poker, Bellagio and Wynn have the best card rooms/comps and the best daily tourneys. Mirage is good too. For the cheapest craps and blackjack, head to the old downtown area (well north fo the strip)

Hard Rock is an entertaining place to be on a saturday night, if only for their extremely relaxed attitude to hookers openly on the prowl.

also, Red Rocks Park is about 30 minutes west of the strip and is cool for a day hike of about 2 miles to a spectacular overview of the surronding area. Nice way to get away if you're sick of the city.

for roulette: find the minimum inside table, put a chip on 29 black and each of its four corners...you'll end up breaking even and drinking for free.

that pinball hall of fame looks like a blast...I could spend an entire day in there.

is cook e. jar still around?

I'd detour before the departing plane even took off. In lieu of that, go to any intersection in North Las Vegas, get out of your ride, and make loud, disparaging remarks about anybody's Mama.
