The only place I've been able to come up with this song is on "Live in New York City". Was that the only place it was ever released on record? At least in official release?

Thought I had that but I think it was lost in the great external crash of '06.

Regardless, can someone hook me up with this song?

I got my tix for next Sunday's show and I'm putting together a mix of stuff that have been staples on the setlist for this tour for a few Bruce newbies to familiarize themselves with. They are only aware of his biggest hits and this has made it's way onto every Encore so far.

These are just some people in my office that I'm trying to get the "hymns" to for the Church of Bruce in prep for their baptism this Sunday.

I can definitely hook you up when I get to my office this afternoon if no one else does beforehand.

Also - that Live in NYC is the only version I have, and I have a ton of bootlegs, but I do not have the entire Tracks box.

Maybe Bloor or THE MACHINE can enlighten us further.

I think it was written on that tour, and outside of the Live NYC and Essential albums, I don't believe there's a studio version of the song.

A quick search turned up a similar question on a Springsteen board:

Evidently not to be found.

they really need a 2nd Tracks box, the first one seems to have barely scratched the surface. Why on earth wasn't a studio version of Because the Night included?

Yeah, all I know is that it and "American Skin (41 Shots)" were written on that tour. (maybe "Further On Up The Road", too since they played it when Loog and I saw them on that tour which was well before The Rising was recorded)

Thanks BTW, now I've got "THIS TRAIN" stuck in my head....

Isn't that on Darkness?

no...you're thinking of something in the night, not to be confused with spirit in the night, prove it all night, drive all night, open all night, or night.

because the night is the one he wrote for patti smith but he still plays it quite a bit...10,000 maniacs also had a hit with it.

Studio version of "Because The Night" is on the Darkness outtakes.

It matters not. The live version on disc 2 of 75-85 box set destroys all comers.

There was supposed to be a second Tracks, but that talk disappeared a while ago. I think the Darkness remaster is next up.

Just saw this thread. I'll go dig out Essential in just a moment. It's upstairs somewhere.

I have a Giants stadium version on itunes, but that's like 24 mb and a bit much for a comp.

I converted from 320 to 192 to get the Giants Stadium performance to 16 mb from 27, because I'm too cheap to pay a box.net premium account.

I can't get either of them until I get home.

So that first one is from Essentials?
