This is the first part (the group stage) in Obner's efforts to pick the best album released in the 2000s. In the group stage, there will be 64 groups of 5 albums. The top vote-getter in each group will advance to the 64-album tournament.

Please vote for the album that you feel deserves to be in the tournament. The deadline for this group is Monday, August 3 at 1:00PM Eastern Time.

Your attempts at humor are both noble and doomed. They make me feel pangs of sympathy that momentarily turn my world to grey while I weep for the futility of our collective existence.

Also, shut up.

goddamnit, who are the fools voting Unicorns??

...I don't have interest in any of these albums, other than strong hate toward The Unicorns.

Machine, I know you're curled up with the acetates of the first 2 Black Oak records right now but if you hear any electronic album from this decade, I think that M83 record is the one you should hear.

You may still hate it and I will take the punishment but it's just a beast IMO.

Walls of treated guitars and keyboards, lush vocals, and a headphone masterpiece if I've ever heard one.

Mood music for sure though.

Oh yeah. Pretty sure I got a couple of their records from you but I really like that '07 album they put out. "All of a Sudden I Miss Everyone"? I think that was the title.

Wouldn't mind seeing them live.

This mines a similar vein, less about delay and guitar and more about electronics, but man it's all about atmospherics.
