THE PLANETS

Is being sold by a novel new method -- snail mail!
Quote:
Our new album The Planets is available for $17.00 (U.S.) by mailing check or money order to:
Green Album
416 Stevens St.
Geneva, IL
60134 U.S.A.

Anyway, I've heard a couple of tracks (I've been recording with the same guy that mixed the album), and it sounds pretty amazing. Much more lush than their sound in the past. Less Replacements and more
Raspberries, Posies, Big Star, Jellyfish, etc.

Just thought that I'd give y'all a heads-up.
I'm ordering mine this week.

That fell through.
I don't know the details, but I'm sure that there'll be a few of Matt's detractors on here who will be happy to speculate.

OPA is correct here. Unless it comes with a $10 bill inside the cd, that's, uh, a lot to ask of people. Best of luck to 'em.

I think it's coming directly from the band, themselves.
If that's the case, they don't get the same kind of price breaks on mastering and pressing that labels do (even small labels) and are probably trying to earn back what they spent out-of-pocket.

That said, it is a bit pricey. Especially these days when everyone and their mother will have access to the album for free at torrent sites.

Of all the artwork to jack, why the Deutsche Gramaphone artwork of Gustav Holst's "The Planets"?

Extremely lame cover art.

The SK association fell apart due to creative differences. I felt as though certain aspects of the album should have been approached differently, and he disagreed with my criticisms and pulled the plug on the promotion. The album was released as he originally presented it to me, which I guess I technically rejected.

He was nice enough to send me a copy of the album, though. I really like the song "Honey Hold the Rails." In general, the songwriting is extremely strong in spots, particularly on "I Just Can't Remember Your Face", "You Silly Cyborg" and about 4 other songs, but I felt the final product was still too rough around the edges and had far too many songs.

It's probably $17 because there are 17 songs, so it would cost that much if you bought every track on Itunes.

This is a mistake.

FWIW, Green didn't spend very much to record this album compared with most bands' studio recording costs.
