So I'm seeing this new gal and as things go in such circumstances, music exchange becomes a fun part of the deal. But...well, I haven't done this in a while and I'm not entirely sure she actually uses an mp3 player, though she has an iphone. So, burn to CD right? Just seems like zipping and upping to mediafire would be tactless. But I would've said the same thing 10 years ago about making a CD mix.

Thoughts?

hahaha toots. SO NOTED

nah, she def. wants mixes. it has been so expressed and requested. specifically about spoon and another general mix. plus she listens to cds a bunch in her car and also has an ipod...i just haven't quite gotten a read on when/how this goes down.

but i don't wanna all geek out on this point ya know? much better geeking out here, obvs.

you gotta start with the CD

because it's not just a mix, it's a memento

if she wants to migrate to invisible-data-land, let her make the first move

but make sure you let her know, unobtrusively, that you consume most of your music - if you do - on small handheld devices, and she'll catch on

smooth sailing thereafter

you have my guarantee

ok I dont know where I read fail.. I dont get the problem.

anyway - yeah CD-R - when does it go down? um no quicker than 5 days after request and no later then 10
(I dont know there is an answer to that question so I just made that up)

dont geek out, just do it.

"smooth sailing thereafter"

oh indeed.

yeah, that's pretty much where my thinking is at v-a-v the memento. it's like that scene from death proof. no, not the one where they all die. but where they're talking about the virtues of a mixtape. i'd have to take the time to look this up, but i'm sure you get my meaning.

though it seems to be decided, yes, an actual, physical cd is the way to go.

just gave a mix cd to a girl tonight. i re-did it because i thought i could've put some better tunes on it. she'd only heard of about 4 of the 25 or so bands that were on it. i guess we'll see how it goes in a few days.

I believe the artwork is every bit as important as the track choices. It shows you're not just a mindless consumer, but a creative soul yearning to be free, and in her pants.

so, seriously about the artwork? i've never put much weight into that.

i'd never made artwork for a mix until i donated mixes to a charity auction and they required artwork with every mix. so i had one of my designer friends cook something up.

oh yeah, no cover probably maybe no in the pants

but seriously, i think it shows extra effort or, at least, puts a face to the effort you've already put in to the mix
