Anyone ever mixed a string section in a rock band? Looking for any tips. I've got 3 violins and a cello to mix in with drums / bass / guitars / electric piano.

I have a pretty good idea where they should sit volume-wise in the mix - i'm more looking for tips on standard placement of a multiple string instruments spectrum / pan-wise. It seems obvious to try and mix them in a stereo panorama - but maybe that is not neccerarily what works or sounds best?

I haven't really gotten down to really mixing the track yet. Just tracked the final violin last night. Been listening to some songs with similar orchestration / feel on my ipod today trying to see how other folks handled it.

Mix the entire track in mono and get that whole Spector "Wall Of Sound" thing going.
