Opening Day............where hope springs eternal.

Does any other sport open with as much optimism as baseball season??

Heading down to Turner Field in an hour for Cubs/Braves. Lowe vs Zambrano.

Sort of optimistic about the Giants this year, but our pathetic line up will still fail to score many runs and will provide nearly no power. Prediction: 90-72.

The Reds are living up to my expectations. So is Pujols.

I'm staying passively optimistic on the Orioles chances. There's no way they will make the playoffs, but I'm at least hoping for some decent games and more competitive than last year. Really looking forward to some of our young pitchers to stretch out and show us what they've got--Bergesen and Matusz I'm looking in yr direction. As far as other players, I'm obviously excited about Adam Jones, Kakes and Wieter. Maybe some Reimold action as well. I'd be happy for a .500 season and ROY for Matusz.

Fuck. I should be there. It's been two years since my last Turner Field trip. Enjoy yourself! I'm turning the game on right now.

I think .500 is probably too much to ask. That's an 18 game improvement on last year. I also expect that Reimold and Bergesen will regress some as they exceeded expectations last year, but definitely excited for Wieters and Matusz. Also hoping they find a way to make room for Tillman, Arrieta, and Mickolio by mid-season.

Pujols was 4-5 with two home runs, 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored.
That guy is a machine.

This Cubs/Braves game appears to be worth the price of admission from what I've seen so far.

Phillies had a good opening day... got to see the good sides of Halladay and Polanco, our two major off-season acquisitions.

Final score of 11-1, thanks to the entire line-up getting a hit and a homer from Ryan Howard and a grand slam from Polanco.

I live for this shit.

Eddie Murray may have been the inspiration for Sam Jackson's character in Pulp Fiction.

one of my favorite days of the year. I'm watching Verlander vs. Greinke now - you can't ask for a better matchup than that on opening day...

On a pace for 324 HR/486 RBI.

Yes, I make this joke every year.

Cubs, lol
What a great way to start off the TD Ricketts era of the franchise and the 103rd year of futility.

Being there for that home run may have snuck into my top 5 Braves moments ever. Massive hype that delivered when everyone was on their feet. I don't know if I've ever heard that stadium that loud. Granted my playoff experience there is limited to two games.

Still, almost missed it. Literally got to our seats when he had the pitch count at 1-0.

AtlantA police and the Ree Ree parking people CLEARLY aren't in mid-season form and I missed the first 6 runs scored due to traffic and clusterfuck parking.

Also, every beer stand within 6 sections of our section ran out if beer before the end of the 6th. Fucking EPIC FAIL. They weren't expecting that big of a crowd or they just were that incompetent. Not sure which.

Probably incompetent... though if you want incompetent look at Washington--apparently the beer stands in some people's sections there were out by the 4th inning. Oops.

How can a baseball park run out of beer? That is incomprehensible.
