The Beat Farmers - Tales of the New West $4.99
Elliott Smith - From A Basement on a Hill $4.99
Randy Newman - Harps & Angels $4.99
Elton John - 1968 Demos $4.99
Nick Lowe - Jesus of Cool (Remastered Expanded Edition) - $6.99
John Lennon & Yoko Ono - Double Fantasy $3.99

Neil Young & Crazy Horse - Live Rust $2.99
Television -S/T (1992) $2.99

They had some tempting boxsets including ones by Ernest Tubb, Louvin Brothers, and Hank Snow but they were still expensive even with the sale. There was a vinyl section that I would have liked to have looked through but it was really crowded and I didn't have the patience to wait. Any other LA obs go? It is going on tomorrow too so Tania you might want to hit it up on your lunch hour.

Nice snags on those Wyman albums; I didn't know Monkey Grip got the expanded treatment.

Anything interesting on that Pogues - Oddballs collection? I don't see a listing for it anywhere.

I haven't been to Amoeba or even LA in over 3 years....wow...cries.

although vintage vinyl here in Jersey is like a mini version, and has a much better metal section...only thing keeping me from killin myself.

It really looks like its just a cd-r of live tracks thrown together by someone. But they don't normally sell anything like that so I don't know if there's anything more to it.

Here's the track listing which looks pretty interesting:

1. Me & Bobby McGee (London '83)
2. Rocky Road to Dublin (London '83)
3. Don't It Make My Born Eyes Blue ('83)
4. The Auld Lang Syne (London '84)
5. 18th Day of November (Norway '85)
6. Nicaragua (Italy '87)
7. Goodnight Irene (London '88)
8. NW3 (Germany '88)
9. Japan (Japan '88)
10. Darklands (Birmingham '88)
11. La Marseillaise (France '89)
12. Sligo Referee (Reading Festival '89)
13. White Light White Heat (Amsterdam '89)
14. Murder Ska (Sweden '89)
15. White Light White Heat (Sweden 89)
16. My Girl (London 90)
17. White Christmas (Dublin 90)
18. Donegal Express (Italy 91)
19. North Sea Hole (Germany 92)

Not sure when I'll get around to listening. I'll post more if it turns out to be good.

There were more Wyman albums. I stopped myself at 2. And there were tons of Rolling Stone bootleg concerts.

I had my hands on that Nick Lowe just yesterday, but then I saw that all the bonus tracks are stuff that I already own on this collection.
I'm jealous of that Pogues, Fannies, and OJ stuff, though.

And... let me know how you like that Tenpole Tudor. I'm a little surprised that you would pick that up. I mean, I love the shit out of those guys, but thought that you were a bit more lukewarm on them.

No I really liked that Swords of a Thousand Men comp so thanks for turning me on to them years ago. I'm guessing its Radcliffe that is lukewarm on them. I'd never seen anything else by them and was surprised to see that cd in their sale. I could see how they wouldn't sell a lot of copies of it but I'd guess that someone would be willing to pay a lot more for it than I did.

I went on Monday afternoon, and things were pretty picked through...

I did get a Mahalia Jackson album for a buck, a copy of "You think you really know me" by Gary Wilson for $10, and a bunch of "indie" 7" (Quickspace, Korea Girl, GBV) for .50 cents each.

Did better upstairs with a Lou Reed best-of for $2, the new Four Tet album, and the JG Thirwell "Venture Brothers OST Vol. 1" discs...

Ok...so I'm almost done listening to this thing. Horrible sound quality and for the most part the songs wouldn't be that good even if the sound quality were improved. I really think its something someone put together from soulseek dl's. Not sure why Amoeba was selling this. I had to take a flyer on it for $2 though.

Really good. Unfortunately, even though it was a tiny club, they were the fourth band on the bill and were only allotted about 40 minutes to play. They sounded great though and as a bonus, the chick singer wasn't there.

I was back at Amoeba for a Richard Thompson instore yesterday. Wasn't planning on getting anything but ended up with:

Bill Evans- Sunday at the Village Vanguard $4.99 (I've had a mp3 version of this forever from emusic but the cdr I burned it to sounds like crap now)
The Jazz Butcher - The Cult of the Basement $4.99 (also had in mp3 form only)
The Jazz Butcher - Fishcotheque $6.99
"Spider" John Koener & Willie Murphy - Running, Jumping, Standing Still $9.99
James Luther Dickinson - Dixie Fried $9.99
Lee Morgan - Search for the New Land (RVG Edition) $4.99

A shamefully underrated album. That's a nice score...it goes for a mint on the collector's site. If they have more, let me know.

I'm pretty sure that they didn't have more than the one. It was discounted because it was in far from mint condition although it played fine.

I think if they had more than one, I wouldn't have bought it figuring that I could always pick it up later. I knew it was out of print but I was surprised to see people asking $70 for it on amazon.

I'd never pay anything close to that but I did like it on first listen.
