Just kinda creepy and fucked up and, yet, silly.

It's a pretty old band name, Cap'n. They've been around a while.

It's close for me between this and that Mount Kimbie cover, but I guess:

I don't know why, but I've just always found it strangely appealing. It's one of the main reasons I checked out the album in the first place.

I also really like the physical packaging on Beach House, Arcade Fire, and No Age, but they don't look so great purely as covers (flat images).

Looks (according to allmusic.com) like "pretty old" means 2006. I think they went on right after Richie Havens at Woodstock, right?

2003, actually. Old enough.

Also, Jesus, Todd, we get it. And yes, it is a nice cover.

aids wolf's only redeeming quality, imo, has always been their artwork, closely tied to this print company: http://seripop.com/

Yeah sorry. When you said "old" I thought you meant "before this stupid band name meme shit started," which is not correct. It is the meme of naming bands similarly, in several-year-long-clusters, that I do not like. And these guys appear to be part of the Wolf cluster, if perhaps trailblazingly early.

Bands aren't still naming themselves in themed clumps?

They are, I guess, but the Wolf thing seems to have stopped. It's not like you were clear that you were referring to the entire "meme-naming" phenomenon when you made your "this shit has to stop" post.

This little argument has already gone on way too long for what it is.

Quote:
According to singer Special Deluxe, the name "AIDS Wolf" comes from an urban legend wherein wolves carry AIDS and pass it to house pets who then pass it on to people: "We didn’t come up with AIDS Wolf as a concept. The idea has been floating around in the public psyche for a while. In urban legend, wolves transmit AIDS instead of rabies; in depressing college towns, street gangs spray-paint ‘AIDS Wolf’ on the side of buildings." [1] The band has given other answers to similar questions, however: "My partner and I were on a road trip in Ohio, and it just came to us. It was a universal message. It's a combination of our spirit peers in An Albatross (animal) and The Sick Lipstick (R.I.P.) (illness). It fits, because we're a little bit no–wave and a little bit hardcore, like each of those bands. It's also a message that we as humans must take care for our animal siblings as their health is a barometer of our own survival." [2]

Haha
