...but very little of it was current. So, instead of a traditional "favorite albums released in 2010" sort of thread, I'll just post my top whatever albums that really struck me this year--some of 'em will be new releases, some of them will be new to me in 2010, and some of them will be old favorites.

haha, I love these threads.

contradiction: Zao has dabbled in screamo, I guess, but it's really better classified as metalcore.

Zao has gone through some different incarnations. I actually kinda have a soft spot for "Liberate Te Ex Inferis".

zao is a long and storied chritchen band that started out as a PA-style grindcore/noise band a la creation is crucifixion and circle of dead children, who then, for better or worse, helped pioneer the modern screamo mov't of the early Aughts. since then they've moved into a raw-er more stripped down style of extreme music, having recorded one of their recent albums with steve albini. i have two tattoos on my body from daniel weyandt. also, there are no original members in this band.

I honestly have no idea the difference is between the following labels:grindcore, noise, screamo, stripped down extreme music. It all seams like some guy yelling over loud guitars with no sense of melody.

I think I did like Fetch the Compass Kids back when I decided to listen to all things Danielson. I can't remember now which albums I had wanted to revisit (didn't like any of them as much as Ships, but they were all interesting), but maybe that was one of them.

Exactly, my knowledge is limited to music genres.

Not serious. I just hate using these  . I'm not secure enough in my manhood for them.

Loved the "Scott Pilgrim" nod. If my list had gone to 20, it would've been on it.

looks like someone just went to the bargain bin and grabbed 20 albums and dashed out.
