This is almost everything I bothered listening to with any level of attentiveness. I'm surprised you liked the Spoon THAT much. There's a lot on here I need to check out. Even though I don't think our tastes are very similar, there are always some surprising overlaps

I kept meaning to check out that Cute Lepers album as their last one ranked high for me. Also I listened to the Sunrise Highway and am really surprised you liked it that much.

Am also curious to hear Kasey Anderson.

The Cute Lepers album is a real grower. At first it felt like a bit of a letdown from Can't Stand Modern Music, but almost a full year later it's surpassed it in every respect. Better songs, more varied sound - just a good step forward for an already good band. I still think they're the closest the Earth's ever gonna get to the Exploding Hearts again, unless the Biters pull it together for a full length.

Sunrise Highway sounds like a mere confection at first, but the damn thing's got dem legs.

Very much Steve Earle-influenced, tough-as-nails roots rock that's not afraid of some Crazy Horse style guitar crackle and buzz.

Coincidentally enough, the thing that made this album stand out for me so much was his voice. He's singing in a lower register on this one, and it really works.

Damn straight with that Spoon at 1. I'll be checking out a few of those I missed. Thanks for the Silver Seas. Dan Kelly has tracks that made a few comps I put together, a solid album. And that Nile is good, but i thought it was a leak for 2011 so I never considered it.

One thing about Ted Leo, I don't listen to him much but every time I read about him or see him in an interview he's seems so fucking cool I go back and listen more.

I think he nearly always sings in a lower register though, no? I keep thinking of that song off his first solo album, "Author Unknown".

I won't be doing a list this year as I've had an eventful time lately and too many of the albums I bought are still unrated to make it worthwhile but we share a number 1 if not much else.

The Silver Seas was unrated but would have been Top Ten; after that not much cross over at the top end (I had Ted Leo, Sharon Jones, Drive By Truckers on my list but all in the top fifteen).

Yeah I like Sunrise Highway, though that shouldn't be surprising.

Hi everyone,

We wanted to make a point to say thanks personally to all of you fine folks who use Obner.org for supporting Elvyn!

We've seen some real progress with The Decline, our third album, and it's really pushed us to keep up the fast pace. We're going to have some more music for you in 2011, this time on vinyl as well.

So thanks again to all of you for talking about the album, and for placing it in so many year end lists. We're humbled!

Paul Collins was more disappointing than Wavees?

Always enjoy your lists Radcliffe. We have opposite taste when it comes to how we like our music produced/recorded, but i guess i need to check out Free Energy & Telepathic Butterflies and perhaps look into a few others. You can stick Roddy's piano up your arse though.

I forgot about Paul Collins, but really I just wanted to give Wavves the cherished #99 spot.

I know, you're pretty much into the same garage band, over and over and over.

Dern, forgot about them too. I knew there'd be a flaw in trying to get to 100.

Also, guys... Don't be arguing in front of Elvyn.

Unsurprisingly, we have an inverted #1 & #2

3. Jim Jones Revue Burning Your House Down

guess I need to track this down

4. Asa Beautiful Imperfection

Be My Man - should be in the Top 25 tracks of the year.

8. Locksley Be In Love

This one is starting to sink in.

10. Smash Palace 7

Yep. Missed the boat on this one. Good record.

11. Title Tracks It Was Easy

Sometimes I think this is the best record of the year. Can't say enough good things about this one.

13. Jason Falkner All Quiet On The Noize Floor

Princessa is solid, but it's the only song I've heard.

32. The Men Four Good Men And True
Some good tracks on this one.

52. Alejandro Escovedo Street Songs Of Love
The last song on this record is outstanding.

62. The Dirty Shames s/t
You're A Drag - good track

81. Len Price 3 Pictures
Thought this one might place a bit higher on your list.

89. Beach House Teen Dream
My wife constantly plays this and loves it. There are a couple of standouts tracks.

90. Ariel Pink’s Haunted Grafitti Before Today
I suppose Round n Round is a good single, but the song that piqued my interest, Jules Lost His Jewels sounded like some lost 60's garage classic which proceeded to kick my ass over and over, but was disappointed to find out it was an older track and not on the new record.

Solid list Rads. You have me doing some investigative research.

Yeah, no kidding. The album is okay, if unspectacular, but then "Down On The Bowery" comes on and steps it all up about a million levels.

I think most of it is pretty great. More albums should start with an opener as simple and rockin as "Anchor". It sets the mood. Speaking of "Down In The Bowery", is that Rod Stewart guest dueting in the middle of the song or what?

As for your list, I like and strongly endorse Spoon in the #1 slot--there's really nothing negative I can find to say about the album. Sorta surprised (actually I'm not, you've been high on them all year) that you placed J. Roddy and Jim Jones so high: I found both of this records to be pretty disappointing and in some places, not very good. But to each his own.

I've been listening to Chateau Revenge a lot this week. It really reminds me of early Phoenix in a lot of places. Also, there's songs on there that would be at home on that Ariel Pink record if they (AP) had been more interested in song craft than forced experimentalism.

And dern, ol' Elvyn showed up.
