I guess it's a good idea if it A.Exposes them to a bigger audience and B. Offers a prearranged way to make some good money, something every mid level band can use.

Warped tour isn't coming to Western Canada this year, but I'd go just to see them, especially since I can get in free with a photo pass.

Agree with you, Yail. Its one of the longest-running travelling summer festivals (since 1995), and definitely allows a band access to more people. They've also sort of started branching out beyond pop punk, so who knows.

Another thing to consider, and this is without having read anything, but unlike a lot of festivals, you're not in for the entire run. You might be on for like 10 dates and then pick up a tour of yr own. Coupled with the above sentiment of hitting new people, maybe they are riding this through areas they traditionally don't tour well within.

Lucero has been headed this direction for at least three or four years now. Every album gets worse. This does not surprise me at all. They are not a good band anymore. They belong on the warped tour.

gaslight anthem covered lucero last year to a crowd of exactly who you'd see at the warped tour. this doesn't seem like a big jump for them.

or their moms. there are a lot of warped tour moms.

It's not surprising. They share connections with a lot of bands that have done it.

Besides, their sets are too long, so this is a good way to abbreviate them.

but Lucero sounds like the Hold Steady with laryngitis. Is Hold Steady on warped too? They should be.

they're on Vagrant now so the warped tour should be next.

also like Lucero, they're NOT GOOD anymore.

I'm pretty sure both of those bands go into the studio with the GOAL of making a new album more mediocre americana than the previous release.
