Okay, first off, I have to apologize for unleashing this here. I mean, most of you seem like, y'know away from the board, you'd be pretty decent people, so this is completely unforgivable on a couple of levels.

I've only recently discovered Moneybrother, but I've already downloaded three of his albums. I think he's from Sweden, and if his album covers are any indication he's the kind of guy that needs a friendly bitchslap for his own good.

But - and here's the rub - the albums are slaying me. If you can imagine Springsteen's Born To Run mated with disco-era Stones. with Joe Strummer as the vocalist, then a) you are sick, and b) Moneybrother, man, Moneybrother. I'm presently addicted, totally addicted, to the song "My Li'l Girl's Straight From Heaven" from his To Die Alone album, which adds a little Thin Lizzy twin geetar action into the aforementioned Springsteen/Stones/Strummer mix. Needless to say, it's absolutely horrible. And completely, amazingly, ridiculously awesome.

His first album is Blood Panic from 2003. It's probably his best, although certainly not his worst, which might mean it's probably not his greatest.

the lack of originality melded with many things currently dumb and grating about music --
Nostalgia!
OR selling to naive kids
OR "" old people

30 year old riffs with modern production always == repackaged turds == "the golden years"

not my bag, man.
garage rock your springsteen with a piano singer-songwriter rocket to anywhere.

i already have those ripped-off records without the vocal vomit.

Jerkass

P.S. Disregarding irony, considering how scathing and judgmental you are, I wish your taste in music was more interesting.

I actually hear a little bit of Jarvis Cocker/Pulp leering sexuality in there, too. Not sure what I make of it, yet. I might actually come to like this, but then that breakdown is maybe a little too Bruce.
We'll see...
Thanks for posting this.

There's no discrepancy between expectation and reality, so it's really not ironic.

In other words, the irony is expecting it to be disregarded.

Just say, "You're an ass just like me."

some defense
