I never see any talk about Mr. Fred Cornog on these here boards. I am a huge fan and today is a good day because his new record came out and it is so good.

Started to read up on and listen to him because of his use of lower-priced equipment in recording. Great sound and songs. It's time for me to search for more on-line articles about his recording style and equipment. I can't afford much of anything anymore and I don't want to screw around with a pc. Anyone know of any other artists that have successfully created and mixed some good stuff on self-contained cheaper multi-trackers ? I can leave the mastering to someone else.

I have The Gasoline Age somewhere and really liked it at the time. There was someone on the board who was a fan...FT?

I'd have to say Smog would be the best RIYL reference. Except where Smog would be just Callahan and his guitar at times. Cornog often also self accompanies with other instruments--drum machine, synths, guitar, bass. It is all recorded at his in home studio as he is somewhat reclusive. His lyrics are fantastic. He does not play live shows. This new record would be his 7th, they are all available from Merge (they were streaming this new one). His day job is at Home Depot.
