With that classic sound, I've found some Ray Price, had me early Waylon, Haggard, Cash

Just found some Jimmy Reeves, Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, and a great Ricky Nelson comp for 10 bucks,

who am I missing on this list?

The obvious one is Hank, Sr.
Also, you gotta get you some Buck Owens.

Got Buck,

both Hanks, Snow and Williams are a little too early and Opry in sound for what I am looking, I should have said mid 50's to late 60's.

I sure would when I am satisfied with a certain number of artists, might get some repeat artists on same comp though.

Lefty Frizzell and Little Jimmie Dickens (a personal favorite) are two I'd pop out there.

I'd also breeze through the Country Music HOF's website to see inductees. When I was in Nashville I picked up a bunch of inductees' greatest hits albums that I wasn't familiar with for like $5 each.

If you want to hit into the bluegrass realm (and why wouldn't you? :rockbanana: ), I'd look at Bill Monroe and all the people who played at his iconic Orange Blossom festivals.

I thought of Lefty and George, Patsy's a good one, Loretta too, don't know Brenda or Tammy much,
I dunno much about the Everly's music 'cept for the staples

Never heard Ferlin, Faron or Gibson I don't think

will look into Jimmy Dickens, I saw some references to the name

Looks like most all of it's been covered, just wanna second the Don Gibson. Man had an amazing voice.

Lee Hazlewood produced some great country music in the 60's along with his lounge pop.

Maybe a bit more jazzy and refined than you're interested in, but how about Chet Atkins and Les Paul. A session with Chet Atkins is pretty great and something I pull out and listen to quite a lot.
Image

And for Les Paul, I like his stuff with Mary Ford. Les & Mary is pretty good.
Image

and although I've seen it panned in some circles, a lot of Warm & Wonderful is pretty great too.
Image

Then, you could always go a little more recent if you wanna break your rules and grab Chester & Lester to get 'em both together from the 70s.

Ha! I know its not your thing Rads. Is it the era of music or style you don't like? I know you like some Rockabilly. Around this time era what would you suggest to listen to besides the obvious? I am just trying to find that spot in time before it all goes nuts, [parallel to the Byrds but not infected by hippiedom yet].

no one has mentioned Charley Pride, but what a voice. Chet Atkins produced some of his albums.

No doubt. He asked for 50s/60s artists, and while Pride produced some stuff during the 60s--his breakout was definitely during the 70s imo. He should def check him out, though. Essential listening to the country genre.

I know Pride has released approx 3.5 billion albums, but he had a good 7 or so in the 60s, of which my favorite is Make Mine Country.
